So to re sum things up. The garmin rally pedals I noticed last week on the short trainer ride that the left shoe or pedal was making noise when I would pedal. I didn’t think much of it but I did notice I could wiggle my shoe around while attached to the pedal more on the left foot then the right foot. This was with my bontrager shoes.
Yesterday was my first outdoor ride on the ritchey since the indoor ride. I noticed pretty early on a loud clicking noise coming from my left side. If I held my foot at an angle I could get it to stop. Half way through the ride I tensioned the left pedal to about half ways. The noise was a little less but it also seemed I could still wiggle not foot more on the left side that I had tensioned, than the right side which I had not. With 10 miles to go I stopped again, and tensioned the left pedal to the max. The noise went away, but I also no longer had any float. Yesterday I was in my specialized shoes.
Today I lost a clear bolt in my right shoe. I heard a metal on metal noise the first 30 miles, and was going to check the torque on my pedals when I made it home. About the time I realized fl what the noise was, the bolt escaped.

So I’m going through my garmin rally box to get a new cleat bolt, and I checked out the cleats.
First what is this adjustment on this garmin cleat,
and I have no idea what these O-rings are for or these washers.
Nothing in the manual that I have found about them either.

No idea on what the black rubber adjustment really does, but Garmin uses the standard Exustar cleats on their pedals that are Look or Shimao cleat compatible depending on the pedal body type..
The metal washers are spacers to put between the pedal body and the crankarm in the event the pedal sticks far enough through the crankarm that it could hit the frame.

edit: I got the shimano version of the pedals, so this is a stupid question.

Our friend who broke her femur got herself transferred out of the public hospital (where they had neither beds nor pins for the week) and into a reasonably upscale private one. Her surgery was last night and she left the hospital around 4:30 this afternoon by private ambulance. Total hospital costs, including the surgery team, were $2900, plus $65 for the ambulance that took her approximately 25 miles, to her home at the beach. Even I am surprised.
