Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Portland Area Roadies - Ride Sunday 7/31?

I'm thinking Tualatin out to Hagg Lake and back through Newberg - about 75 miles, mostly flat with the nice climb around the lake. Start around 8 am - should be a beautiful ride with the weather so nice.

Anybody want to go?

I'm doing the Old Fashioned Festival in Newberg on Sunday afternoon. But I think I would be able to make it for some of the ride. I'll find out. (alison-in-oh needs to see this thread so we can get more Oregon Roadies out there).

Ah, man, gotta miss this one, too. I've got my high school reunion this weekend. (Rather be riding, I'm sure.) I'd love to do that ride with y'all, sounds like a blast. Have fun, and be safe!

I really wish I could join you guys, but the plan changed and we're moving sun/mon instead of mon/tue...so no riding for me for a couple days...DOH! Have fun and don't overheat!

Cool, now I don't feel so lame...hopefully we can get the group together for a good ride soon! Out of curiosity, how much climbing is it up to that lake?
