Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Rock N Roll Gold Chain Lube

I have read good things about Rock N Roll Gold chain lube following my LBS recommending it and using it in their shop. Looking for comments on it from people who have used it.

I am not looking for recommendations on other chain lube products, as that opens the same rat hole that this forum has dived into many times already. Thanks.

RnR Gold works fine. Used to use it but am now using RnR's "Holy Cow" instead (if your LBS also stocks this).

I wanted to use it in winter but it says apply when warm what is warm? 50 degrees 60? it did not seem to ast in the rain much better. I like rock and roll as I don't have to clean the chain.

It's fine. Shake well. Remember to wipe chain really well after application to minimize attracting dirt/gunk.

I didn't like it. Needed more frequent application than NFS lube, which happens to be the best lube in the galaxy.

Has anyone ever counted how many chain lube threads have existed on BF over the years? Something as simple as lubing your chain...Do these type of posts really need to exist?

Just find some lube and use whatever makes you happy fercripesakes.

Apparently, people are not aware of the Search function. Or Google.

Agree. There are a few things that are bike specific to this forum that can't be found through google or another search. But the majority of this stuff is simple google search away.

Except this one is different from the usual, "What's the best lube?". This one is, "I bought this lube, tell me it's the best...I don't want to hear otherwise."

This is an unproductive pair of requirements, since it's hard to evaluate a product like chain lube without drawing comparisons with other options. (e.g., "it lasts longer than product x," or "it works better in dusty conditions than product y.")

And as has been pointed out already, bf is full of these threads. Use the Search function. Or google.

Thanks for your comments and I realize there have been countless threads on various chain lubes. That is why I worded my original posting the way I did. What I am looking for is very simple response from people that have used Rock N Roll Gold, and their impressions? I was not looking for comparisons between it and any other chain lube... just a basic "yes I liked it" or "no I did not like it". If respondents provided reasons why they like or did not like it, that would be appreciated but I was not looking for comparing it to any other product. Like you, I have tried many lubes, and an always looking for a better solution.

I gave you 5 links to reviews of Rock N Roll Gold in post 5. 2 of them are actual Bike Forums threads on Rock N Roll Gold.

For the record, I use Yacht Rock Platinum. It's a lot smoother than the Rock N Roll Gold.

Saw your post with the links. I have read a couple of them. I was looking for reviews from "typical' users. Thanks....

Not sure.. generally I'm applying lube in room temperatures. Yeah, I don't think it'd be a long-lasting option for wet weather riding.

I’ve used it, it seems to be adequate. If you don’t want to hear other options it may be difficult for others to offer comparisons.

buy a small bottle and try it for yourself. It’s probably like $10.00 at a LBS. since it won’t destroy your chain, even if your not fond of it, it should be close enough to adequate for you to use the bottle without wasting it. If it’s a big turn off, give it to another cyclist, someone will use it.
