I did at least 3145 miles this year, but I ALSO had month off for a broken bone and also spent some very useful happy-hours sailing a few uncharted nautical miles.

Yep. Go ride on a highly technical MTB route, or even on a gnarly gravel route, and tell me how it compares (time and effort) to the same distance on smooth tarmac. And as others have noted, climbing is a key metric, too.

Yep. Go ride on a highly technical MTB route, or even on a gnarly gravel route, and tell me how it compares (time and effort) to the same distance on smooth tarmac. And as others have noted, climbing is a key metric, too.
