Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A touch foggy this morning, but even with the late start traffic was very light. I guess no one has to work today.

And then the supermarkets, who are a pair of 800 pound gorillas, said we are only going accept eggs grown under the new proposed rules. This meant the farmers who'd taken the option that the govt threatened to remove would suddenly have to spend lots more money, really, really fast to stay in business.
The farmers don't of course have the multiple thousands available to change again quickly, nor will they get the necessary permits/consents from councils and government departments quickly. As a result, eggs are virtually unobtainable for the average consumer. The last few times I've been to the supermarket there have no eggs available to buy, regardless of price.

Just as well I don't eat a lot of eggs.
Bummer. I thought you were going to say that all of the chickens washed away in the flooding.

I saw none of the YouTube links over the last three pages. At first I had FOMO but then I got over it.

They are doing some work in the space next door. The workers have loud music on, at least it's "classic rock" so I don't mind it. Much.

My local jeweler replaces the battery on my TAG Heuer while I wait.

Oh, the first part got me, where you said you had the problem with the Ksyriums.
Shimano hubs are probably cup and cone with loose ball bearings. Sometimes tricky to get the preload just right. Is it both wheels? Someone suggested the QR was hitting the axle but this seems unlikely to me.
Switching between two frames, do the rear dropouts have the same axle spacing?

Mine is 25 years old. I sent it to the TAG service center about 15 years ago for the overhaul. I think it was something like $100. But I just do battery changes now.

Seen here with a GPS watch that cost more than a dozen eggs.

I use a Casio F-91W. Battery lasts about 5 years. Current watch is maybe 8 years old and on 2nd battery which is easy to change.

It's clearly the Saturn of watches. Cheap, plastic, and good enough for me.

I can't stand wearing watches. I tolerated it when I was a metal player because I had to keep parts in tanks for varying amounts of time and couldnt do that with a phone and run the hoist at the same time.
