I don’t drink much or often, but mrs datlas opened a bottle last night and the three of us shared it. I don’t think I felt the least bit tipsy, but the wine tasted fine.
I learned later that the wine, Moscato, has HALF the typical alcohol concentration of “normal” wine.

Then, at Polhemus and Crystal Springs, I discovered that Crystal Springs was closed beyond that point. "No sweat!", I thought, "I'll just ride up Polhemus to the Ralston Trail!"
Then, at the trailhead, I discovered it was closed. I BRIEFLY considered taking Ralston to Alameda, Alameda to Edgewood, and Edgewood to Cañada Road. Then I remembered reading Edgewood was closed at some point between Alameda and 280.
So I turned around and headed home, back through all the puddles and mud on Crystal Springs. Two miles from home, while thinking about chucking the bike in the Dodge and driving over to Edgewood and Cañada, I was taking a turn and the bike got distinctly squirmy. My front tire was soft. I stopped, and picked 3 pieces of embedded debris out of the tread, and got out my mini pump, and started the long, laborious task of trying to pump it up enough to get home. Just then, a guy across the street, in his driveway putting bikes into (or maybe taking bikes out of) a pickup, while wearing cycling kit, offered me the use of his floor pump! That got me home.
Once there, I looked at the bike, which looked as if it had been hosed down with sand, and my clothes, which looked similar, and decided the best use of my time would be washing the bike and my clothes, and doing a virtual ride later in the day.
Upon sober reflection, I think it's just possible that there may be better uses of my time than trying to ride a bike after an historic deluge. At least I got in 13.3 IRL miles to start 2023.
