Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Had a good early ride. Temps were in the 50's and it was sunny and windy. It really felt like April.

Now for a tech rant I need to print out a document. Our ******g HP printer is low on COLOR ink. I don't want to print anything in color, and there is PLENTY of black ink. But the stupid printer will NOT print for me because the color ink is low.

And I paid the property taxes this morning. Two years for the property with the house and outbuildings, and one year for the other property. Plus surveyors fees. US$100 total
If we pay in Jan or Feb, we get 25% off, and if we pay our annual water bill in January, we get 50% off

They actually come out and survey every two years? Or just look for markers?

Some tech-savvy person could probably find a way around that. What worked for me in the past is to take the ink cartridge out and bang it on a hard surface, as if to shake the ink toward the contact area, then it prints a page or two.

The ******** (stupid) thing is that I don't want to print in color and clicked on "print black/white" but the stupid device refuses to print because the COLOR ink is too low.

Survey wasn't the correct word, but I couldn't come up with anything better. The guy came out and measured the three buildings and then made drawings. The last time I paid the taxes, two years ago, I wasn't questioned about buildings. Last year I was, and it wasn't until time to pay them this year that it occurred to me to arrange to have that done.

Try to fool it into thinking there is ink in the color cart. One time I tried one of those refill kits which comes with a syringe to inject ink into a played out cartridge. It made a mess and was not worth the trouble but would be helpful in a case like yours.

Can’t you go into setting and force black and white printing as the default?
