Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling ďIt is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.Ē -- Ernest Hemingway

Mrs. GJ caters to him, but when she goes out of town, I don't put up with that nonsense. After one night, he stops asking, but he knows she's a soft touch. For dogs, anyway.

Grocery stores are of course mostly regional, and I was only ranking those I've used frequently.

I'm probably the biggest softy here and even I wouldn't go follow a pet to the living room to sleep. Wow.

She has weird sleep anyway. Often wakes up in the middle of the night and goes out to the LR, watches stupid TV* for a while and falls asleep on the couch. And that's without Rango wanting to go - he'll wake up and follow her.

*"Stupid TV" is best exemplified by the Hallmark Channel, about which we joke that if you fall asleep in one of their movies and wake up in another, it doesn't matter because they're all the same plot, and often the same actors.

knockwurst ... brats ... on the grill ... with / without sauerkraut ... etc etc

brings back great memories of of the outdoor parties at UD (University of Dayton) during family / parent’s weekends and Octoberfest

also would sometimes find time to slip away to visit bike shops in nearby area ... K&G bikes in Kettering OH - great bike shop ... K&G also has shops in Centerville and Xenia

Speaking of that, can a shop straighten a spoke? or do they replace that? I have spare spokes, but I am a little worried that the shop wonít be able to straighten the wheel. The only consistent complaint with these wheels is that they are hard to true, and in some cases shops refused to work on them.

If I can get these straighten and I donít need a new fork, then I will get a new set at some point in the future, and only use these old ones for racing.
Replace the spoke. Sometimes rims are beyond repair.

That's probably why he thinks it's a fine habit. Poor old Toby would move between the bed and whoever else overnight, but never expected us to change locations.

I don't see why not, I have all my photo equipment covered.
If they do, I'll bet it doesn't cover racing.

Priest Lake in Idaho was looking good the other day, all ready for Vintage Snowmobile races that should be going on now. Wonder if they have a live stream somewhere.

Fire, of course, and water damage. Flood itself? Hmmm, I donít live in a flood zone unless youíre talking about burst pipes, sewer backup, etc. If so, thatís under my water damage section. I had water damage (flooded basement) in my old house so I made sure that my new house has two sump pumps on separate circuits and I have a whole house natural gas generator. Flooded basements are common when power goes out or pumps fail as Iím sure anyone with a basement is aware.

It’s in the 50s but windy so I decided to take the day off and do some “adulting.”

New toilet guts. Also changed the refrigerator filter. Wife thinks I’m handy.

Race went really well. Iím hoping for a top 10 finish not sure, unfortunately they didnít pull people who were lapped, and they hoped back into the race which is a no no. I took some pills but really focused on my position, I was aggressive but not dangerous, I guess more assertive.

I broke 1,000 watts finally. The trek 5200 is awesome for crits, I am very happy with the decision to race that.
