Race went really well. I’m hoping for a top 10 finish not sure, unfortunately they didn’t pull people who were lapped, and they hoped back into the race which is a no no. I took some pills but really focused on my position, I was aggressive but not dangerous, I guess more assertive.
I broke 1,000 watts finally. The trek 5200 is awesome for crits, I am very happy with the decision to race that.

Recall my BB is creaking and my idiot mechanic rounded the 5mm Allen crank arm bolts.
I bit the bullet and bought the bolt extractor set from Home Depot:
I cannot get the extractor to “bite” or grip the bolts. Even when I hammer them in. I tried a little drilling and still fail. I may have to get a real mechanic to fix this. Advice?

I was heretofore unaware that there was a $144 axle vise!

You might have to grind the end of the extractor flat. If you have access to a grinding wheel that would be great. I think the extractor I pictured earlier would be a better choice but the one you have might work. Start with the one that is barely loose in there and grind it flat until you have to hammer it into the bolt head. Leave the other bolt tight. Good luck!

Beautiful here today, high temp in the 60s and no wind. I went to the dam and visited with some friends from road club #2 who were parking there to go into the mountains. Their route is 30 miles up with almost 4K feet of climbing. I would have done it with them yesterday but I don't have the desire to climb that much after the ride I did.
One lady is on the comeback after her second hip replacement due to arthritis. Seemed like a tough ride for only being several weeks out from surgery but she wants to get back to being a mountain goat.
After they left I cruised around and I saw a guy admiring a huge hawk in a tree. I wished I had a camera because the bird was so big I thought it was an eagle at first.
I use a pedestrian underpass to get past the freeway and go to the hills while avoiding car traffic and it's usually full of broken glass and trash and other debris. Now some guy is living in there and he swept the whole thing squeaky clean. I've seen him a few times now and he's very cheerful and friendly.

Edit: I should have caught up before posting. Anyway, I’ve done that with taps when needed but go slow and don’t overheat the tool while grinding.

No grinder but will futz more with drilling. If all else fails I can try to drill them out entirely, but I am askeered of damaging the threads the bolts go on. If it comes to that, I can use the NDS crank arm from before, which is a 6700 crank and should be compatible. But I hope it won’t be necessary.
