Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling ďIt is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.Ē -- Ernest Hemingway

Hope I'm not too Late. Sucks that you crashed. Take it to the shop. Letc them decide if it's ruined or not. They can then get the replacement parts moving.

Get used to it if you are going to race. Even if you do a crit somewhere else it'll be different sketchy kids, but still sketchy. Just accept it. Sketchy is as sketchy does. This is also why people race inexpensive bikes if they are paying for them out of pocket.

Speaking of that, can a shop straighten a spoke? or do they replace that? I have spare spokes, but I am a little worried that the shop wonít be able to straighten the wheel. The only consistent complaint with these wheels is that they are hard to true, and in some cases shops refused to work on them.

If I can get these straighten and I donít need a new fork, then I will get a new set at some point in the future, and only use these old ones for racing.
replace the spoke if it has been stretched . It's been past its yield point it'll just break down the road.

Yep. I have a Live address from BITD and I'm suddenly seeing the high level of demand for fit bad boys like myself to fill male escort positions.

I heard some sad cycling-related news last night. Apparently a cyclist was killed after being struck by a automobile yesterday in West Chester, near the University so I am guessing more likely a student....they did not identify the person who was killed but they say the car was a police car. Sad.

It's why this old fat guy never raced IRL and only races on Zwift. I have a decided distaste for damaging my bike or my increasingly old and frail bones because someone else ****ed up.

If you are good with a drill, you can drill the head off the bolt. You will need a bit that's the same dizexas the bolt head or slightly larger but not a big as the recessed part of the crankarm. .gobslow and be careful

still recall horror stories from friends racing crits BITD

one guy went down - slammed to the pavement after tangling pedals (?) - slid across the road - hit big curb and flipped up into the air

soon these guys saw the value in a Cannondale for Crits ... no more Bassos and Merlins etc lol

If not, I will have to follow MoAlpha advice and try plumberís tape in the BB threads.

Fingers crossed this solved the problem.
. Just remove the cups, clean and regrease everything is usually enough.

I love watching NorCal Cycling's race videos, but the crashes - especially his, last year - convince me it's a spectator sport.

EDIT: and he's racing Pro/1/2. I can't even imagine the carnage in Cat 4/5.

I was course marshalling a local road race a few years ago. As the Cat5 group approached my location, they fell into a pile for no apparent reason. Nobody was hurt.

Not sure. There are no markings on it. Was told it was a 56 my other bikes are a 58, but the geometry is so different I donít think 56-58 applies when compared to my other bikes.

The electric gloves are awesome. They don't feel warm, but I can walk in 35* with howling wind and not have my Raynaud's trigger, which is a massive improvement.

not sure - but the OCLV frames might have been measured/sized C-T - as opposed to C-C ... and the OCLV frames seat tube was above the top tube a decent amount
