Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

At 67" tall, I don't think that I've ever owned a bike that didn't have toe overlap.

I can't stand toe overlap... luckily, I usually size up on bikes so I don't have the issue. To each his own I guess....

It was bothering me, but I just did a side by side comparison with measuring tape to the my Madone, there essentially the same.

I've never had one that did. When I bought the Tesch I was warned that they were notorious for overlap. Even my size 49s don't touch on the Seven, but it's close.

How noticeable is it on your emonda?

Since I've dealt with toe overlap for 40 years, I rarely notice it at all. It does bite me occasionally at stop signs but seriously, it really is no big deal. My sub conscience handles it, I guess.

I never got to a surgery date before. I have one now, February 8th, that was booked in early December. I was cleared for surgery by my cardiologist. If I get relief from my nerve pain and can ride again; I believe my other issues will improve. Time will tell. I could be riding by August.

In summary: Just one victory and I'm on my way.

bampilot06 I checked and the overlap on my Colnago is 3/4", Emonda is 5/8", and Propel is 1/2".

My dog is driving me nuts this morning. Trying to get the house ready for the wife to come home. The dog just keeps following me around and barking when I stop moving. That’s how she tells us she needs to go outside. I’ve let her put 5 times and she just stands in the garage and then comes back inside, starts the whole process over again.

# No more dogs.

I know reading that doesn’t sound bad, but believe me it’s the most annoying thing in the world.

Only bike I have overlap on is my Holdsworth. The worst part about it is when I accidentally get a tire mark on my fancy white shoes

Right on, I thought about it more last night. I think when I ride the madone, I know about the over lap, so I automatically make the adjustments while riding to not have that happen. Foot forward in tight turn, and so on.

The emonda was new and I didn’t even think about it. My daughter was riding super slow last night so I was weaving back and forth in tight s turns to stay with her. The left foot kept hitting the tire where the right foot wasn’t.
When I say slow, 3 mph.

Anyways, everything is cool now.

My fancy white shoes haven't been pristine for 95% of the time that I've owned them. IDGAF any more, beyond the occasional, cursory cleaning.

New (primary) shoe purchases in the future will still be white, though.

I'm not sure what kind of overlap I have on the R3... when I'm going that slow, I'm usually more concerned with my little-practiced, low-speed handling than overlap.

My daughters’ HS band would go do a parade in Disneyworld every year which I suspect is both an honor and a scam. Older daughter’s college band got an invite to this year’s Rose Bowl which I think is a legit honor. But she graduated and her current band role is getting 4th and 5th graders to play together.

When I was in high school I played the cello, and we got invited to play at disney. It was interesting. Not many people showed up to watch us. I didn’t think about it then, but now that you mention it, I suspect it’s just another way for Disney to make money. Invite a high school band, they have to pay park entry.
