Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling ďIt is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.Ē -- Ernest Hemingway

Did you get on and pedal around a bit to try to get it to really click?

Last week I had 4 bikes, now I am down to one. Sigh, I hate swapping pedals between bikes. Tomorrow is supposed to be intervals, wanted to do those on the El Diablo, since I plan on racing that again. Oh well, The Frenchie it is. AKA The Ritchey.

Main issue will be finding a stretch of road that is long enough, lit enough, well maintained and no traffic so that I can do these intervals in the dark.

One wife, we are the same age (but she looks younger so she could pass as a trophy wife), married for 31 years.

Role models, truly. July somethingth will be AG and my 10-years together. Care far more about that than the date we signed a paper at the county clerk's office.

Maybe itís to practice naval warfare?

You know around Dagget, every house has a water ski pond in their back yard. I use yard loosely, itís just desert. Weirdest thing flying my cessna over that, seeing boats running in circles with someone being towed. The ponds were not big by any means.

Yeah, the reviews and pics are totally wackadoodle

But there's a LOT of stuff without street view. Our place in Wyoming has no street view.

I had a fun ride today on the bagel route. We've done the pizza route for several Tuesdays in a row because of the wind but today we rode in the wind zone. It wasn't bad but there was some headwind. It was supposed to get to 60 degrees but high clouds came in and it did not.

It's supposed to get unusually cold here and they say it might snow down to 2000 foot elevation, some saying as low as 1000 feet. I think it's been 60ish years since it has snowed at 1000 feet here.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Just had a chance to look at it again, and yep. China Lake Naval Weapons Station. You can see a few more of their abandoned lakes around there too. And an aeroplane frame. Looks kinda like a dummy one, but I don't know all the plane frames of history

They are calling for rain today but supposed to hold off until noon, so the Usual Suspects ride is on!

I am optimistic that my crank/BB creak issue will not emerge, fingers crossed.

We are in an all day rain pattern. Thunder and lightning overnight which is always a treat in February.

Good luck on the BB creak.

For those of you that live in these affected cities.

How has dodging human feces improved your bike handling skills?

The dry lake bed just to the north has a bunch of tanks and trucks for target practice. Thatís pretty cool. Wish you could get a POV shot of that area.

Just get new ones. They should click into place and need the tool to open up. Generally, they can only be used a small number of times.
