Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Our bituminous materials lab used trichloroethylene to extract asphalt from pavement cores. We got it in 55 gallon drums. I tried to stay out of the small room that they used that stuff in.

Mind blown. I had to have a mouse overnighted for this trip because my travel mouse was in my work bag that I didn't bring because I had to fly. Was miserable for the one day with just the trackpad.

Now on this machine I only use the pad, but trying to do any selection or drag/drop is a pain, and I do way too much of that for work.

Don’t forget a project one trek is “fully customizable”
The early 24" Treks fit me like they're custom made. I have two of them.

lots of nasty chemicals are still in everyday use. sometimes it's because it's cheaper. sometimes because there is no really safe alternatives. I enjoy Derek Lowe's occasional Things I Wont Work With blog posts

crazy choice of bikes for someone recovering from injury or medical condition including stroke

would think it would be especially bothersome when pedaling

I got an AA in computer aided drafting but that was just a couple years ago. I was too busy fooling around to get a degree when I was actually college aged.

my dad got us an hp-86b way back in the day, super advanced with two 3.5" floppy drives and a PEN PLOTTER. had so much fun in elementary school programming it to draw simple shapes, writing basic games, etc.

first intel/microsoft machine was circa 1986. a 286. i think the first machine i ran windows on was a dell 486dx rig a few years later.
