Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think I would be fine on this for 60 miles, but I wouldn’t want to do 100. I really want some better wheels for it. Sticking with aluminum but maybe zondas. I want to make this as light as possible.

Me too, but this year if I didn't ride in the wet, I'd have had to skip a month of Sundays. And counting - currently rain is falling here. We'll see what's up after I take The Older Boy to work, but it could be another Sunday dodging raindrops.

Pfftt. It's gotta be 93° before I go out in the rain. It essentially has to serve as a substitute for a dip in the pool.

My wife and I drove to a starting point and as we drove, it got cloudier and windier and it's 46º. I get out of the van and the wind cuts right through my tights and finds every seam to penetrate in my coat. I told my wife that if someone said **** it, I'd drive back home. I'm not repeating what she said, but she beat me back in the van.

I've had some fun rides in the rain, mostly off road but one time I was solo and I was descending a 25 mile paved route which was closed to cars. That was memorable.

But when the shoes get filled with water and it runs down your back, not enjoyable at all. The sky is getting lighter here, maybe I can do a little spin after all.

IKR, we they need to get some Trsnrtr journals to make note of these epic SoCal events.

I pulled the cassette of the wheel that skips on the same cog all the time, and turned said cog around. It appeared to be on upside down. I have yet to test ride it.

The day is looking pretty promising, down the peninsula. Sun is actually shining at the moment. After wet, cold, and windy, cool and dry sounds pretty nice.

For telemedicine my preferred application is FaceTime. I believe they waived HIPAA for it, hope that can continue. Even grandma knows how to FaceTime.
