Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We are still fully masked in my practice but I am hopeful it will transition to mask optional soon. I honestly don't mind the mask and likely will continue even if/when the change happens, but I know my patients are quite weary of it and most would welcome the option to unmask.
I was shocked a month ago when I saw my retina doctor without a mask on. I had never seen his face before.

BTW, I still had a mask on.

Saturday, my wife and I start a week of vacation at a beach-side condo. This will be our first trip for just the two of us, for more than a couple of days, in over 10 years. During that time, I've stayed in a lot of mediocre hotels in mediocre places for my kid's softball, but it was rare that my wife made those trips, and there was very little ever R&R involved. We are both looking forward to unplugging from our normal routines. Having a cocktail on the balcony and watching the sunset will be an important activity. I have received approval to bring a bicycle.

Easy for you to say.

We've made sure to take at least one vacation per year without kids since we were married. No less than 4 days and up to two weeks. We also made sure we had at least one family vacation every year. Notalways far or expensive, but time away from work, kids activities, and other things.

By the age of 10, our daughter's softball was year round, and not cheap. We tried to squeeze in an occasional get-away weekend for the two of us, but that's about all we could manage around the sport schedule. I don't regret any of it. It was an exciting ride, and we met some amazing people. I'm glad to be on to another phase, however.

I traveled by air to Pennsylvania, otherwise I stayed in the great state of Georgia.

My sister who lives in Florida would probably find it easy to believe. She constantly speaks disparagingly of "snow birds".

The only way they could get close to that number is if they count all visits by everyone entering the state, like truck drivers

Right. Or, counting the same person coming and going repeatedly as unique visits.

Now that my FIL has not been with us for years, I have no reason to go there. And Florida itself is working really, really hard to reinforce that judgement.

Agreed. I may have to report myself but why anyone would want to visit such a dysfunctional state is beyond me. We used to go to Florida a couple times a year but haven’t been back since CV became a thing In early 2020.

I love vacationing in Florida. Could care a less about their politics or Disney. Gulf Coast beaches are the best in the upper 48.

This video has 100 million views, therefore 1 out of every 3 Americans has watched it.
