Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We are still fully masked in my practice but I am hopeful it will transition to mask optional soon. I honestly don't mind the mask and likely will continue even if/when the change happens, but I know my patients are quite weary of it and most would welcome the option to unmask.
I really don't get the issue. For someone having to wear one all day, yes. Briefly? I just don't get the problems.

I wonder if we will still be talking about mask usage or lack mask usage in 2024? Things to look forward too I guess.

Twin Peaks, CA. Let's get the snowblower on the garage roof, why not?

That was my assumption. "The number of people entering Florida equals 40% of Americans." It's always important to know exactly what is being measured.

For that stat to be right, you (an average person) would need to have visited twice since then.

This seems like it might be in Florida, although I'm getting a strong MS or AL vibe... safety chain FTW

And we normally beach in the Caribbean. Water is much warmer then HI. But, of the 48 state beaches, Florida has the best.

Poor old kitty had to go to the vet again today. Last Oct. he was having trouble walking and they said he was probably diabetic. Diag was incomplete (long story) so we switched his food and he lost a lot of weight and seemed to be doing ok until he got swelling on his jaw last week. I thought it was a dental thing but the doc thought it was external so she jammed a needle into it to drain it. Now it's wait and see. He is not happy with us right now.

I get it. I’ve been down that road. Currently, I’m witnessing the slow decline of my old pup. He doesn’t have any major issues (right now), but he has many more years behind him than he has ahead.

I agree, but a small percentage of patients (likely who wear a ceratain type of famous red baseball cap) are angry that this is still "required" in my office. At this point, I believe it's reasonable to say it's suggested but not required. Some people just hate to be told what to do and it causes friction for my front staff who bear the brunt of the anger.

The CDC says that it's now ok for us to do this.

For better or worse, the many of the patients here have no working bone marrow in the skulls under their red caps and all are getting 100% free care plus travel, courtesy of the taxpayers, so there's no friction on their part.
