Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Only if it becomes trendy because it's trendy.

As a practical matter cassettes are pretty lame because you have to FF/RW if you want to hear a particular song. No repeating.

For me, a big part of the "vinyl experience" is the ritual of pulling out a record, cleaning it, spinning it, and enjoying a full side of an album, start to finish. The current digital music format has changed how people buy and listen to music. People tend to buy songs, not albums. They find a song they like, and are likely to listen to just that song from that artist. Vinyl invites you to listen to the artist, not just your favorite song.
I’m the opposite. With few epic exceptions, I want to hear the hit song(s) on an album and not the whole album. I can probably count on one hand the number of complete albums I have on my iPhone, with fingers left over. I have hundreds of cassettes full of singles by different artists or mix tapes, practically zero albums.

I was stunned to find my 2022 was sans CD player. It might have been a deal breaker if not for the supply issues last year.

Let's not forget that the album cover was THE best method for cleaning weed. Particularly the double album cover.

Streaming is the only music I listen to these days, unless in the car, with its cd player. But I listen to very little music these days. Mostly I listen to the spoken word

There's always some weirdo who goes against trends. Those folks do other weird stuff, like ride bicycles for fun.

SVB reference? One of my bank stocks took a pretty big hit today, so I rolled the dice and bought $500 more of it.

Gonna be a wild ride if there's a domino effect though!

That, yes. I was not a big believer in 2008v2, but it's looking likelier now.

It happens under power, hard to do with no hands on the bars.

The SportWagen has a CD player. It's stashed away in the glovebox.

That's part of why it's easy to think everything is the BB when we're conditioned to do that. You torque everything while torquing the BB. Is the trainer possible?
