Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I do. They're usually pretty silly, like I'm riding wheelies the whole time, or something along those lines.

Rarely. Mostly in the weird category.

She could have gotten to know me if she spent a little more time. She was in "estates," I got transferred to her. I suspect she was in the big city, not at the local branch.

A long time ago. Before we do anything else we really need to establish the existence (or not) of a will.

She said when I find the will I need to bring it in to the bank. Hello? That's what I'm trying to find.

Supposed to be 70 here tomorrow! This means there will be (probably) lots of riders out. I also have to decide which of several rides to do. Decisions.

Better than having to choose between Zwift routes!

bad matchup for Purdue ; Purdue backcourt / guards mediocre - FDU smaller quicker backcourt / guards played well ...

PSU - Purdue Big 10 championship game was a preview of how the Purdue (guards) could struggle against FDU pressure

and FDU was able to successfully take the big guy out of the game (as much as possible)

years ago - my oldest kid’s high school years - we played a team with three D1 players including one 6-10 kid

they dominated us - blocked 19 shots

met them again later that season in playoffs - this game a different story

on defense it was again full court trap - but ratcheted up a notch (and adjusted depth of the traps)

on offense we put all 5 players behind the 3 point line and brought their big guys out away from the basket

success

Here's my bracket action so far. Not sure why I got so many "upset points" I think Nittany Lions over TX A&M was my only upset pick.

We're about double normal year to date rainfall and more is coming. We've also had years of half of normal.

Damn, I gotta get these.

Just two problems:
  1. I usually don't spend over $75 on shoes that aren't leather.
  2. I'm only a pair or two away from achieving Imelda Marcos status.

My Mallorca 312 friend group (there are 5 of us) will be trying a 120 mile ride today that includes a “destination climb” up Hawk Mountain near Hamburg, PA. It’s got 8000 feet of total climbing, and our hope is that if we can do this ride sustainably, it will be a good omen for doing well at the 312 next month.

If anyone cares, here is the route for today: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42158638
