I developed sepsis during the holidays, passed out in my kitchen and wasn’t found for a day or two, on New Year’s Eve. Yadda yadda yadda…I was intubated for a few days and then had my mitral valve and part of my aorta replaced. I was in the hospital for over a month before being moved to a rehab place. I didn’t walk until sometime in March and only had my first shower of 2023 this week. That’s all.
I already posted about this here, but you may not have seen it.
My uncle had a somewhat similar problem. He went into the hospital in December with a heart valve infection and other issues. He had major heart surgery, but died a couple weeks later.

I was only found in time thanks to an observant next door neighbor. She noticed the back door to my deck open and only my bathroom light on for an extended period. She went to the neighbor on the other side of me. She has the combination to my lock box from cat sitting. That was on 12/31. Judging from my skin sores, I had likely been there since Friday night or Saturday morning.
I originally didn’t want to hear the details because they upset me so much.
I had a lot of hallucinations along the way. One thing I think really happened was being brought to on my kitchen floor by an EMT using Narcan. That seems to be SOP when there is no sign of injury. My memory is that I started telling the EMT that I wasn’t a junkie. I also remember signing consent forms with an X because I didn’t have the coordination to sign my name.

Do you know what brought on the sepsis?

Indy - that’s a wild story. I also didn’t realize the full scope of everything. Wishing you a quick and complete recovery.

The other thing is the Chief Scientific Officer seems to think I have a gift for what I do. I have no idea if he's right because to me, it seems pretty simple and obvious. So I'll keep doing it, and either he's right or he's wrong, but in either case I'm gonna keep milking that cow while she's still producing.
