Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

it ran perfectly the last time, is under a
cover, in an enclosed basement garage, no weather, battery disconnected … but i’ve been meaning to find time to check it out and get the smog check renewed lol.

my older daughter loves driving around in it but it just seems a bit unfair now that her little sister can’t join LOL

Pretty easy, IMO. All those Seattle/Portland area people given the opportunity to work from home are like "Why the hell am I spending a million dollars on a tiny little box on a tiny piece of land in a place where it's overcast 300 days a year?"

One yard, one "farm."

Pretty simple.

Why? If you're not going to drive it you could probably get good money for it.

My dentist had one, his dream car and his wife bought it for him with her money. It was parked in the lot behind his office, it's on a steep hill, and a woman in an suv hit the gas and launched off of a parking stop and landed on top of his S2000.

a co-worker had one of those neat 6 speed AWD Civic wagons .. I would often ask him (plead) to sell it to me - but he wasn’t ready to move on from it

but one day he plopped a small piece of paper on my desk - an ad for a used Civic Si - and a few days later I acquired the Civic

put CRX Si wheels on it with V rated rubber - BFG Comp TA VR4’s or something like that ... and that really improved the handling ... also has a friend build a receiver hitch for it

The bike transit vehicle is something I bought yesterday. Edward Jones is my tenant. My office is next door to the left of the BTV.

didn’t realize they went to threadless on 2.8 frames that early

I had a 2.8 - first year - 1992 R800 ... put brifters on it immediately so it was basically a R900 .. (I preferred the R800 red over the R900 red)

unfortunately later found the frame to be out of alignment and the fork also out - and in addition one of the areas where the weld was ground was ground too much - so the components were pulled from that bike and found a home on another frame

That might make sense for destinations south of the 40th parallel.

For tomorrow I have a (single) Dan Campbell: Starbucks Venti with two shots. It's a Pike Place instead of Dark, but still. That man has two of those every morning, but he's a lot larger than I am.

Am considering saving it for Saturday, when we'll be up at 3:30 for AG's race. On the other hand I'm really curious how it is. At least it won't taste weak, that's for certain.

I could also make AG divorce me and provide a few more years of dating foibles to feed the thread.

I mean, I'd never do that, but that'd give another topic.
