Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It does, I get a kick out of that picture. It's like it's stuck on with an adhesive.

It’s gunna be winter again tomorrow am. So should I put plastic bags over my feet then socks, or socks then bags.

Aero socks do not apply, however, my legs are smooth as my babies bottom.

Plastic on the outside.

Any other winter questions?

Yes. And socks. Sometimes wool and sometimes not. Since I ride only platform pedals, I use normal shoes. My current riding shoes are a little tight with wool socks, so I'm wearing my single pair of cycling socks with them. The new pair I just ordered will arrive mid March, with friends from Maine.

I think wool shines in the summertime. Those Saucony socks breathe very well and are super comfy in the heat. The Giro summer-weight Merino socks I have are very nice in the summer also. I have about a dozen pair of mid-weight wool and a half dozen pair of winter weight wool. Last year I culled all my non-wool socks and put 'em in the toolbox for rag duty.

I kinda hoped by now I'd have a full supply of Merino boxer briefs too, but I can never find 'em on sale, so I just have the one $30 pair of wool undies.

Saturday ride on a Friday. Supposed to rain tomorrow. We only had 7 riders and 2 had to turn back early for other obligations and 1 who was supposed to come couldn't get the day off.
It was cloudy and chilly and basically a perfect day for it. 64 miles and 4000 feet and I felt better than I thought I would.

We stopped to eat and I had 4 pancakes for $10. Seemed a little high but they were tasty. If it's not raining in the morning maybe I'll get a little spin in.

Same here. I have a winter weight pair on since the night has fallen and I'm trying not to turn the heat on.

The other evening there was a chill in the air so I put my union suit on and thought "Damn, I need a woolen union suit."
