Addiction 2023.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bose, at least, confirmed my QC45s are toast and sent a new pair today.

Maybe these will work for more than a week.

Some people seemingly ask for "advice" on purchases solely to get your approval on what they were going to buy anyway.

It’s a sad day when compression stockings cost as much as a GP5000 tire. I should prolly get 3 sets. That’s 3 Gp 5000 tires this guy is not buying.

Sad. I knew he wasn’t well.

Friend of mine from Santa Cruz and SF bought Mayan from him a few years ago.

Yes.
I worked for a man who owned 10 new car dealers. He sold a ton of used cars and I did smog inspections for many of them. A lot of them were shipped to the dealer where I worked and they got serviced, new tires, whatever they needed and then sent out to the other dealers to be sold. They had a similar operation across town where the owner hung out.
Anyway they always had trouble with sublet detailers, the quality of their work, pricing, getting cars done quickly, etc. There was room at the dealer but when they hired detailers to do the cars there they all sucked. Finally they found a good one. This guy worked hard and the cars came out nice. He would work 6 days per week if they wanted and even bring his wife in on Saturdays to help. Best man they could have hoped for.

They paid him by the car and he was fast enough to make good money, more than any of the morons they had doing it at headquarters. When the morons found out he was making a lot more than they were (I think he bragged to them) they complained to the owner who then cut the good detailer's per car money to bring him down to what they were making. Of course he quit and they were back where they started. Dumb.

I do want to talk to trek about something. These days I’ve been riding the Emonda around, has led me to think of what would make it better.

I have the answer. More aggressive geometry, and lighter but keep it aluminum. They already have the numbers for aggressiveness they just need to not make the frame so beefy.

I get that the emonda alr 5 is marketed as a beginner bike, so it’s built beefy, but I say come out with an Emonda Alr 6 “lite”. Get it down to the specialized allez weight or lighter (frame set) and use the H1 geometry.

I am getting excited just thinking about it.
