Addiction 2023.2

Notices
Road Cycling ďIt is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.Ē -- Ernest Hemingway

Sadly no. I think all the current firsts are music teachers. The principal has played in orchestras.

I'm a self-made grunt.

Got bike checked in at airport, luckily no snags. Today will be a long travel day, first Palma to Madrid, then Madrid to PHL.

As a courtesy to mrs datlas who is still SUPER cautious, I am still masking up in the airport but at the Palma airport today I would say mask usage is about 1% or less. Same was true on public bus transport we took on our trip.

I honestly don’t mind wearing it (used to it by now) but if I were traveling alone I would likely pitch it in the airport and only wear it on very enclosed areas like a metro/bus/train/airplane, or maybe at a super packed indoor concert.

My workplace has gone mask optional as well, effective last week.

All of our hospitals and med offices are now mask optional as of last week. Our non treatment locations went that way a little while ago.

A few other patients in my rehab place had COVID. I masked up while outside my room most of the time.

F-me I think I am getting sick. 90 percent sure. Woke up with that sick feeling in my head

Took the bike mojo wants this morning. Felt extremely weak, hard to breathe. Almost like my lungs didnít know what to do with oxygen, and my legs were burning, again like they were starved of oxygen.

Now I am super congested, and donít want to deal with the world.

Be careful, don't push it and hope you feel better soon.

In my case, severe allergies provided a home for a lung infection and I'm still on meds. Feeling better, though, but I had a couple really bad weeks. In total, it's been at least five weeks since my allergies started up and grass pollen is still a couple weeks away.

Went to my respiratory doc, yesterday, and they have gone mask optional in just the last couple weeks. I wore a mask anyway but was the only one in the waiting room. My therapist was masked.

Figures, I have 8 days to ride and itís not looking good. My daughter caught a cold at the germ factory, and generously gave it to me.

Been through there 4x and all four times, had to take a tram after deplaning and then there was a crush of people trying to get through checkpoints. Had to sprint forever one time to catch our flight. Luckily, there was a handicapped person going through customs (we had just come from Portugal) and they held the plane for him and his airline escort otherwise, we’d never have mad it.

Went through Madrid airport in 2001 the morning that we invaded Afghanistan. All Americans were sequestered under armed guard protection. We couldn’t get food or wander anywhere. Luckily, we only had an hour or so wait before boarding. The profiling for people boarding our plane to JFK was intense. Anyone with middle eastern features or a non America passport was taken away privately for screening.

There is no airport worse than Miami. Especially if traveling internationally.
