Addiction 2023.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was only home for 3 days. Hopefully you have a higher count than that by Sunday.

Will do my best. Much depends on whether mrs datlas allows me to do an epic ride on Monday.

I have to disagree. I had a dog that was a Plott / Walker cross and all he wanted to do was put his nose to the ground until he picked up the scent, then he was off to the races until he had treed himself a... Ok, I see why you feel the way you do.

Came home to a crow in the yard. Mrs John gave him some water and some grapes. He can't get off the ground but I can't see anything obviously wrong with his wings. I was wondering if it's a fledgling and too young to fly. It's small but looks like an adult to me.

The larger crows have been flying around squawking and they came down and took some of the grapes.

Fast walking is probably OK. A rule of thumb is if you (that is, a conscientious person) would feel comfortable doing said activity if there was a burial taking place there.
So, no grass cutting.

No coffee here and I'm doing just fine.

I did a 75 mile ride with the club, my longest ride in a while. Only 3000 feet of climbing but they worked me like a rented mule until later when they turned down the gas and we stayed together for the last 20+ miles.

Kent Glendale gram shaving report:

Canti stud delete: 19 grams
BB shell cable guide: 9.7
Seatpost clamp swap 49.5-25.5=24

Today's total: 52.7 grams

Also wiped a couple grams of dust and road grime off of it.

I almost didn't get the cable guide weenieism, but I flipped her over to touch up the true on the rear wheel and it was staring me right in the face!

While I await today's Pirate's game score from DougRNS I note that these measurements (whatever they're supposed to be measuring) are oddly specific.

Bad news concerning the reason the rear wheel needed some nipple twisting. Mavic 238 is done. Had a pretty good run 1996-2023.
