Addiction 2023.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Strip search?

Our re-entry into the US, early Sunday morning, probably took three minutes total.

Wrong border.

I participated in Spanish classes for three years as a ute.

But to answer your question, no.

Same. No more e-bike commuting this week. Sad.

That little incident sealed the deal that I will sell them off here, rather than bring more money in from the USA. With the strong peso, the price per coin is about the same.
Today I'm living your life (sort of) - wearing shorts.

You might be able to get it out of there by pedaling backward. Or, take the wheel off and pull it out. Be careful of the head, even a dead rattler can poison you.
You're supposed to put the head in a can and crush it or some other method so a dog can't dig it up. If you just bury it in dirt a dog might get to it.

At my old house there was a dead rattler in the driveway and my cat started to go after it and I yelled "NO" and he stopped.

I never get stopped at customs, I guess they’re not suspicious of that clean shaven look.

At worst I do the stubble or advanced stubble look, anything longer just looks too white and old for my tastes.

The GF and I got the 3rd degree entering B.C. Canada from Montana during a 2009 bike tour. A one point, the border agent, obviously trying to catch us off guard, blurts out "When is you next day back at work?"

In my experience, the Canadian border agents have been unfriendly/icy. I asked for a passport stamp at Fort Erie, ON. The agent literally rolled her eyes before begrudgingly giving me a courtesy stamp, which I thought was ironic.

While riding across the country we saw two young folks get denied entry into Alberta at the Chief Mountain crossing after they are their belongings had been searched inside the building there. As they were loading the car back up, there was a border agent pressed close against and interior wall and peering at them through the glass door. After loading up the car, they did uey and headed back to the states.

I subscribe to GCN+ but they are not streaming the Tour de France.

From what I can tell, the options to watch the tour (in the USA) are Flobikes or Peacock Premium, and Peacock Premium is the cheaper option at $4.99 for a month....whereas FloBIkes is $12.99/month. So the choice seems to be Peacock Plus.

Can anyone confirm the above?? Am I missing something obvious??

Understood. Have you tried both Premium and Premium Plus? Supposedly the Plus gets you no ads.

I estimate that I inhaled about a pack of Marlboros on today's ride.

I just have Premium. I subscribe for the office, so don't really care about ads. It's only on a few hours a month.

I use one of those internet location dodging thingies and watch GCN+. Can't stand to listen to Bob Roll and that twerp, Vandevelde.

P.S. We have Peacock standard as part of our Comcast.

I agree about the NBC team. Why can't we have Chris Horner??

I have zero experience with getting/using a VPN to fool the pay sites about my location, but might investigate.
