Addiction 2023.2

Notices
Road Cycling ďIt is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.Ē -- Ernest Hemingway

Awesome, hope they work. Do note that while it is a tri company, they are cycling shorts, not tri. And I have a couple pairs I liked because of the pockets and still use on the trainer.

Turns out my nephew bought a CHALLENGER Hellcat, not a CHARGER, so he has better taste than I'd thought. Named it "Osmodius", who is apparently a demon from Skyrim. I said that's better than Ozymandias. We all know how HE ends up.

Mallorca update:

So the 5 of us did the ride. It was amazing and hypothetically we should have made the cutoff easily.

BUT….the first food/water stop was a ******g mess. Apparently most of the water spigots were not working so there was a mob scene for water. I waited on line for 15+ minutes for water and my friends said to bail as the wait was too long. We bought water in the next village, which also wasted a bunch of time. So instead of what should have been a 5 minute water/food stop we wasted about 25 minutes. We missed the cutoff for the full 312 by about 15 minutes. I wish the organizers would have extended the cutoff but I don’t make the rules. So we did the 225 instead, which was good enough IMO.

Also, one of my friends was lagging a bit so we soft pedaled. I was in a group with the cutoff team and could have made it but the other guys, rightfully so, said we should drop back for our friend.

I am bushed but generally felt ok the whole ride. I had a few cramps but worked them out on the descents.

Pic from start:
