Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The HEDs are awesome.

Slow-night wise, I was sleeping. Walk and then off to the airport, where the plane is already an hour late. At least there's a Priority Pass lounge, and the single hop means it's still the easiest option by far. Sucks that it's not overnight though.

My halo is drenched in sweat in the first 5 miles. The next 45 miles I have sweat pouring into my eyes.

Someone on my neighborhood listserv is looking for a kidney donor for her husband. Should I feel guilty for not offering?

No.

I have CKD, and we've discussed whether I'd take a kidney from one of the kids if it came to that. Sure, you can live on one, but you can't live if something happens to your one. I would not take one from the kids.

(I never thought I'd get something like that, but one m'fing mosquito set in action a sequence of events that got me here.)

Wow. Sorry to hear! I would probably accept a kidney from a family member.

Im crossing my fingers I don't have to swap any organs before I die, but afterwards they're all up for grabs.

It's probably a save bet to go ahead and start with 20__ on my gravestone tho.

I get kidney stones. Generally on the right. Maybe I should give that one.

Definitive solution to the local problem, but a potential contraindication to donation.

I am amazed at the number of variations on the name surname Prendergast that people have come up with.

I'd have to think long and hard on that. Age would be a big factor. The kids have a lot of future, and I wouldn't want to take that from them. By the same token, I'm on the downhill side of things.

Just back from a very humid ride. The Halo worked great.

I went out to one of the hardest hills in the area. It’s about 1 mile, the first 3/4 mile is about 9% then the last 1/4 mile kicks up to 15% and is really tough.

I did my best to enjoy the climb, but was bothered immensely by a few flies (gnats maybe?) that kept circling my head and dive-bombing into my face. I was riding too slow to drop them, and my feeble attempts to swat them away were futile.

Flies are annoying. Hills are awesome.

Everything is annoying. Flies are a subset of Everything. Thus, flies are annoying.
