Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I remember you mentioning that. Shortly thereafter he left us. Before anybody knew that COVID was even a thing. On a similar note, I have a friend in West By God who also got it before it was a known thing, and still suffers from the long version.
Sad!

She needs athletic goals or she sort of falls apart.

Like progress, climate change has gone on long enough. It never really cools off anymore, during the night. I missed my ride this morning, by over sleeping until 5:30. By 6 it was too hot to begin a ride two hours long.

Yeah, gotta roll out of bed by 0430 to get a decent ride in here as well. I thought I could train myself to do that on a semi-regular basis but nope. Hardly any rides for me this summer

89°. Feels like 13°. Humidity.

Prices, in pesos, have risen significantly in the era of the strong peso. Seems counterintuitive. Am I thinking in a wrong-headded manner here?. I, personally, am blown away ever time I buy produce. How is the common man getting along?

I had an ex in Texas too, long, long ago. She was four years my junior. She now lives in Arkansas and is an old woman. Though I still think of her as a 21.year old hottie.
Sigh…
An old high school friend on FB last month posted that she had gotten together with her best friend from high school, whom she hadn't seen in decades. It was my first girlfriend. She looked...old. It made ME feel old, especially realizing it's getting on for 50 years since she and I were necking on the couch at her parents' house while their dog gave me the evil eye.

I hear there's an old friend of mine that lives here in Albany that I wouldn't mind running into. I just hope I can hide my reaction if the years have not been kind, because she used to be hot.

I hope she can hide her reaction, too.

My typical Tuesday afternoon ride is going to get ruined by taking my dogs to the vet.

I may have mentioned it, but back in 2005, I saw some pictures of my 30th High School reunion - which I didn't attend - and I thought, "Why did they invite their parents...OH MY GOD! It's not their PARENTS!! It's THEM!!!!"

10 years later, I saw pics of the 40th, and they looked like their grandparents.

Mind you, here I am 65 years old. One of my grandfathers had only 4 more years of life left at my age. He did have to work at it though - smoked like a chimney, drank like a fish.

$5 tickets for Dbacks vs Los Dodgers tonight!!! The sports guy on the news the other night mentioned the Dbacks recent record and it was pretty sad, 2 for 19 or something like that.

Dbacks were on fire for a while. Did something change - injuries, trades?

Also...Go, Dodgers!

I notice the link doesn't compare average attendance to pre-Covid.

Nothing screams hot ticket like the $5 games LesterOfPuppets keeps going to.

I reckon I could take the lightrail in, but then I'd have to wait in the heat for the train 10 minutes or so.

Or, they could do like the Rangers and build an air-conditioned ball park.

Rangers were usually about 5 to 10% of capacity when they played in an open park during July and August.
