Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Stars don't come in 1/3 increments, they come in 1/2s.

Wanna hear the convoluted tale of how I got back on the bike?

Like a year ago I was too out of shape for the MTB...
So I took up golf. I'm bad, like comically bad, but it's still fun if you drink enough.
Then my garmin watch was so old I couldn't use it to track a whole round.
So I got my korean neighbor/golf buddy/coworker Dong to get me a new one since he's a garmin dealer.
The new watch tracks my pulse ox in my sleep, says things are not great.
So I go get a sleep study... and get diagnosed with OSA, but it's not terrible. Everyone in my fam has it. My day was always coming.
Treatment started for that (I'm practically darth vader now) like 3 weeks ago, and I swear I don't feel less tired, but everything else is turning around.
So now I'm back on the bike, only to get my heart in better shape.

Strangely, I'm losing weight at a rate that make absolutely no sense. Like 12# in the last 14 days. It can't be water weight, I drink a 100oz a day. I'm not really dieting. I'm not burning enough calories on the bike to make any difference at all. I'm certainly still in terrible shape, and only building muscle (which should cause gain). I don't get it.

Oh, and I had another kid like 5mo ago. He's cool, even though we're old parents.

That's an oddly precise amount.

Seems like fifths would make the most sense, assuming 5-point stars.

I got a kidney stone... ended up in a medical study where you track how much water you drink with a robot bottle. The idea is to piss like 2+L per day so any crystals that form get flushed out before they grow. The study target is 100oz/day. I'm done on the study, but still use the bottle and drink that much 'cos stones suck and I don't want anymore.

It's one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/HidrateSpark-...1zcF9hdGY&th=1

It's the 3rd bottle I got free from the study. This one's better than the previous gen, but I don't know if i'd pay $80 for it.

I think the guy at the bike shop didn't understand that we wanted to know IF the Exploro Primo could take 650b, not if it came with.

However, I can't think of many common drinking vessels that divide evenly into 100. Ten maybe, but it's not as if 20, 25, or 50oz cups/ bottles are common. And 16 is much, much more common than 10.

I’m sure that others have seen this but quality lead pencils come with precision fractions. I’m probably showing my age, but for example, Walmart might sell a pencil marked #2-1/2 but a quality pencil from an art supply store or engineering supply store may be marked 2-4/8.

If you're in jolly olde England 20oz is a common size and I've been in several pubs in USA with 20oz glassware. A lot of places sell you "pints" that are actually 14 oz, it's an outrage.

Had a fantastic ride today. Conditions were near perfect. It was a bit breezy but all good.

Speaking of breezy, my friend’s attempt to ride up Mt Washington today was not to be. Winds near the summit of neatly 70MPH forced the organizers to cancel the event this year. Maybe next year.

That's a lot to drink on days you don't exercise. You fill up the bottle in the morning and it sits there as a hydration challenge until you finish it off? Must create added mental stress late in the P.M. if you're running behind schedule.

I'm not a Doctor but unplanned rapid weight loss is a sign of unchecked diabetes. The doctors here can speak to that more appropriately.

A shocking post. One I would never expect from the likes of Velo Vol. Both these artists are the schizz. Not to mention the backup band.
