Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tylenol doesn’t do much for me, so I just avoid it all. I have a pretty high pain tolerance.

Due to some recently bruised ribs I have had to resort to alternating ibuprofen with Tylenol at night when I go to bed and need them the most. During the day I just HTFU.

I am SO grateful to not have to deal with the BS of dating. I have been with mrs datlas since 1989 so never had to deal with online dating. What a **** show.

All this pain talk... Everything hurt yesterday. Lower back worse than usual, upper back kinda stabbing pain when it's usually a dull ache. Right foot outside below toe made me want to stop descending the last hill so I could spin, (not the kind of hill where you can let it go). Neck was sore, too. Most of these are aggravated by chasing or hammering into a headwind.

The two previous longer rides had a total of 10K feet of climbing, but I did most of those rides alone. Maybe the fatigue has accumulated and I haven't had enough rest, maybe I just can't chase those people through the hills anymore. The "B" group has disappeared.

Yesterday when I finished the ride I saw a woman who was our club president some years ago. She often led a good B group and I had some good times with them. She and a friend had finished their ride and she was upset with herself about how much trouble she had with a ride which was easy for her a while back. She hasn't been riding much and I asked her if she would be coming back. "Nope, I think I'm done." I didn't expect that.

I was able to drag my ass out for a two hour spin around the bike path. This can help the pain go away but I usually push too hard if others are around. My own worst enemy.

Met my ex on a bike path in 1990. She had a flat, I fixed it. Met current Mrs John on a dating site. Whenever any talk of men's height comes up I remind her how lucky she is.

My regular pharmacy hasn't gotten any MTX in three months.

But the place I found last month apparently has more, so crisis averted for another 28 days.

Citizenship application is off until next July. Too many details to cover too quickly
I couldn't possibly be sufficiently prepared , even if the federal police check comes back in time. If I don't show up for the appointment, Thursday, I have to wait a year before applying again.
Big sigh of relief.
It's nice to go into something like this confidently prepared. Haste makes waste.
It was a complete surprise that I got an appointment at all. My friend, who started the process three months ago and is still waiting for an appointment (my advisor), didn't give me enough info, with the understanding that there are no appointments available, and there would be time to bring me up to speed.
