Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So we are flying to LA in October and of course the cheapest flights are with Spirit. We have never flown them before but their reputation is not good. Anyone have personal experience? We can get 2 RT tix from PHL to LAX for $600. Cost is about $1k for a real airline.

I never dealt with it as a ute. The one night stand was my modus operandi. If we liked each other enough in the morning, we continued the relationship.

That height graph shows what my friend, who's 5'0", tells me - it's really hard to find women who will go out with you if you're short. I knew it was a problem. I didn't know it was THAT much of a problem.

I also wonder how much of the distribution is driven by the tendency of men to lie about our height.

NOt Spirit but Frontier. I did it for the direct flight. The seats might have been a little harder and smaller. These days though, all non-upgraded seats are small.

I saw my first TDF stage this morning. I turned it on with 5km to go.

I've disabled all spell checks, suggestions, and whatever other AS features there are. I find I make a lot of typing errors, what with these fat Mennonite fingers. Much easier to correct than the ********* the AS puts out there. That I never see until after I've posted.

By the time you pay the baggage fee, the carryon fee, the I want the stewardess to be nice to me fee, and the I gotta take a leak fee, you may be better off on the real airline.

I couldn't possibly be sufficiently prepared , even if the federal police check comes back in time. If I don't show up for the appointment, Thursday, I have to wait a year before applying again.
Big sigh of relief.
It's nice to go into something like this confidently prepared. Haste makes waste.
It was a complete surprise that I got an appointment at all. My friend, who started the process three months ago and is still waiting for an appointment (my advisor), didn't give me enough info, with the understanding that there are no appointments available, and there would be time to bring me up to speed.
Isn't there a website that outlines the process and what you need? Seems odd you're going by word of mounth.

At the time I didn’t find it too bad, I met Mrs BD online, and she is the perfect match for me. You have to know how to play the game, it’s just a sorting process.

If it's still going it doesn't appear to be on OTA TV in my market. I did catch the final hour of the IMSA race in Canada earlier today

Poor Dbacks got booted out of #1 in NL West today. Boo pirates!

It's on USA network. Pirates are 21-41 since April 29th when they were 20-8. Sad.

I flew Spirit from MSP to DFW to pickup my Jaguar. Only 3 hours or so. Plus the train ride from FAR to MSP.

Definitely win the award for the least comfortable seats. They were like the cheap plastic chairs we sat on in high school. And packed like sardines. But it was only about $100, so cheap as I am I could put up with it.

I ate before I flew, so I didn't want any carrion. Don't remember having to pay to piss on the plane, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was the rule. It seemed like everything and anything was extra.

I only had one days change of clothing, so everything fit in a small under seat bag. I really didn't care if the flight attendants were nice to me. I just wanted to get to Dallas Texas.

The drive home was a lot more pleasant, and almost as fast (or it seemed like it) when you include the train ride.

last night i hatched a plan for a century today. when morning came i just wasn't feeling it, so i did a favored more local 50 mile route. i hoped i'd be fast, and power numbers looked good for the first hour. started to drag just a bit around an hour and a half and by the time i finished, was at least 5 min slower than hoped.

then i discovered my rear tire was at only 32psi. i knew it was soft (hadn't topped it in a week or two) but not that soft. can i blame my slow-ness on this?!?! normally i blame the wind, which was certainly a factor as well.

There is that. I would have found it had I had the time. I casually entered into the 'initiate solicitude' page, with.every expectation that it would take weeks or months to go through. I was blown away that they gave me an appointment a week away. I am not the sharpest tack in the box when it comes to these types of things. A year is a little more time than I would have wanted, but just today I realized I forgot to report a property, that I don't really own, but is on my corporation, due to covid twists. They are very clear in their admonitions against coming in unprepared. Intentional crimes against the state was one of the phrases used. Pull your resident card and passport and leave you with no rights was another. It put the fear of god in me. Took the 'casual' right out of it.
