I just watched the last 5 mins of the Seahawks game after shopping for acreage all afternoon. Might catch the second half of SNF after doing laundry.

felt ok this am and yesterday (it was a ****** week), so first long ride today since the renewed heart rhythm issues. 68.5 mi 4.5 hours. 30 minutes slower than the last time i did this ride, but it was still fun/satisfying and i kept my HR below 100, average just 88BPM. working hard on not caring how slow some stretches (mostly climbs) were, only partially successful.
but it was a beautiful day.

No, fortunately I think this was caused BY the emissions guy. Unless it was me the last time I filled it and it took a really long time. It passed emissions and then this popped up a week later, two weeks after I fueled it (rarely driving).
I did go through that once before, in Texas, when I had the battery die right before emissions (or maybe it was AG's car... I think that actually, the Fit chewed batteries in the Texas heat) and had to drive it around for certain durations and acceleration and so forth to pass enough internal tests for the inspection.

If you can get to Topanga or beyond there are lots of nice loops you can do.

We had a full bag of frozen mixed berries in the freezer when it crapped out. It didn’t look like we would be able to use them up fast enough, so today I took what was left and made compote, with the juice of a lime for added zest and added acid. A touch of maple syrup, and thickened with chia. We are also rich in yogurt, and the two go hand in hand, with either granola or walnuts. Yum. It might not be the last time I mix up a compote.

Sane here. Plus my Prevail helmet came with “Angi” which syncs to my phone and automatically texts emergency comtact(s) if it detects a crash.
On last Friday’s ride I heard a loud “alert” sound coming from my phone after we hit a sharp bump in the road. I pulled out the phone and it was in a 10 second countdown to send emergency text to my wife, apparently the bump was strong enough to fool the device I may have crashed, I was able to push stop before it sent the alarm text. That’s the first false alarm I have had in using the gizmo the past 6 years.

Something was in the air about Baldy. I know multiple people, in different groups, who rode to BV or the ski lifts yesterday. This is unusual among the bike folks I know.

It seems silly/indulgent, but the cool damp weather inspired mrs datlas to ask me to make a fire in the fireplace.
Mission accomplished. First pic was start - few hours ago. Second pic is now, settled down. The cat was initially spooked by the fire but now seems to enjoy the warmth.

One guy at the start yesterday said he was going to Baldy but changed his mind to stay closer to home. He's been out there a lot lately. Last time I went was 4th of July when the roads were closed to cars. It's a 30+ mile drive, depending on where I start, from my place. Going there isn't bad but the drive home can be awful.

I managed to get up early enough to be on the bike at sunrise yesterday:

I was rewarded handsomely by my first bear sighting since I moved down here

Also, cool boat sighting:
