Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tonight I put in a new cable without much fuss. Old cable looked fine. Won't shift. Routed wrong at shifter. Gah. Managed to reinstall which surprised me quite a lot. All hooked up and shifting fine.

Just as stiff as last night though.
Clean the spring and the pivot points. Lubricate them. See if that helps.

High of 94 today. I'll keep a sweater handy
That's actually normal for this time of year
The cakes are nicely tucked in the freezer. The cookies are gone. But there's that jar of cashews that may have to be hidden in the back of the fridge.

Moving from ag-rural economy to industrial-urban economy in the 1800's makes that data irrelevant. Need an apples to apples comparison.

Can't hurt. Unless you are too rigorous while cleaning and take off some skin.

Predicted to be 108 degrees here on Saturday. I may give in and join the hoards at the coastal club ride. The scheduled ride is 85 miles with 5000 feet of climbing and most of the climbing is away from the coast where it will be hot. Looking at the list of attendees on our club page I can see that I will not be the slowest but some of them have no business on such a ride.

I think the guy who pushed for this route has convinced others to come under the false assumption that a coastal ride will be easy.

Come to think of it maybe I have no business on such a ride.

Red socks would work well with either of Lucinda Brand's Trek team kits. No automobile sponsors unfortunately.

Yep I was in the prom scene filmed at Big Surf. Dunno if you can see me in it cuz I've never seen the movie. We weren't great about making every call to set either. A lot of exploring Big Surf at 3am went on.

Did a little yard work this morning. It wanted to fall 45° from where it fell. Right on top of the fiberoptic cable. I really love doing this kind of work. I'm glad I'm still able. Can this count as resistance training?

I used the axe because I am home alone. I no longer use the chainsaw when there"s nobody else around. And with a tricky drop like this one, it's good to take your time and suss things out as you go along.

Good idea. I would note, however, that mankind has been able to inflict considerable damage on itself with axes as well.

Just got a call from the wife. Usually it's a flat tire. This time it's a brake failure. It"s uncanny how these things happen when she"s out alone. She thinks calling a tow truck is line calling an ambulance, and wants to try and drive it to the mechanic
The reservoir is full. So there's that anyway.
