FUJI on ebay
Anybody ever buy, or think about buying a road bike on ebay? I've been looking into getting a used road bike. I've ridden mtb for a few years, and I think I would like to try riding on the road. Anyway, there are always a bunch of fuji bikes on there that start out at a very low bid (and they are always listed as new bikes). I'm just wondering why they have these things starting so low. Maybe they go way up once people start bidding on them. I haven't watched one go all the way to the end. I'm just wondering if these bikes would be worth bidding on at a low price. Anybody have any input on this?

I love eBay :) Have bought a complete bike, frame, components, and many other things on eBay. I even bought a car on eBay once :p All experiences have been very positive!
I haven't looked into the Fuji bikes, but I believe there are some members of the forum who have Fujis and are very happy with them. The best thing to do is research the bike, make sure you know your sizing, decide how much the bike on eBay is worth to you before you start bidding, check out the seller's record, email them in advance if you have any questions. If everything is working out then bid with confidence! Good Luck Dax |
I've bought two bike frames and a complete bike on eBay, all with good results.
The biggest issue is knowing the proper size since you can't take it for a spin. Standover height and top-tube length are critical to being comfortable, among other things. If you're experienced enough to know what you want there may not be a better place to buy than eBay. I bought a new Fuji Team frame off eBay this past spring. It is a quality frame and a good value. The ride is a little harsh, but is tempered by the carbon fork. |
I just acquired a bike which I found on Ebay. I did NOT bid on it, instead I searched in my local area for available bikes in my size and contacted the owners to find the reason for selling. One guy simply wanted a trade with something I had. This allowed us both to test ride each other's bikes and it worked out very well. BUT.....
The item was listed on Ebay as a mint condition of a certain year & model. Indeed, it was that year frame in good condition but not "mint", however, it appears to have been either an upgraded frame trade-in from an older bike or the components from that year were stripped and replaced with an earlier drivetrain. So, although it's a good bike, it certainly wasn't the stock bike from that year as you might expect from the auction title - so watch out! |
Unlike many others, Fuji measures size to the top of the etended seattube.Know what size you need and how it is being measured relative to Fujis way of doing it.Toptube length is important too.Fuji are good bike and good bang for the buck.

As others have stated before, if you know the right size, these bikes look like an excellent buy! I have owned two Fuji's, and they both have performed great. Now, I usually ride a vintage Paramount, but for the last couple weeks, it has been sidelined due to a bad rear wheel. So I took the trusty Roubaix down from the wall, and have been enjoying it all over again!! The old downtube shifters are still kind of a pain after being used to STI sifters, but the Roubaix still rocks!!
Fuji quit making bikes in Japan in about 1991, and for several years thereafter, they suffered with poor quality, but they have worked very hard at improving their product. I know I would not hesitate to buy a new one if the opportunity or need arose. |
Thank you for the replies. I am going to keep my eyes out and hopefully will have my first road bike in the near future.

I just bought a Fuji Roubaix-Pro (not on e-bay) and love it.

I bought TONS of bikes and bike parts on ebay and every experience was good. No problems at all.
Seriously, I bought at least eight bikes on ebay (all collectible) and too many parts to mention. Some sellers gouge on shipping - be carefull for that. |
I purchased a like-new Klein Quantom Race w/ Full Dura-Ace and new Vector Pro's for $1K... LBS price? $4300.
Great bike, perfect fit, wouldnt trade it for anything. |
