Addiction 2023.4

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

"Stage 4" of the Zracing series, Sprinter's Playground course in Neokyo. 1st / 12 starters. Last time I was the nail; this time I was the hammer

A typical hard start dropped a few and then we were 10. I attacked hard over a little rise and dropped two; to my surprise, I wasn't countered. This gave me confidence to attack more. I attacked hard a few more times and dropped a couple more until we were 6 going into the sprint, which I won handily. Yay

Spectacular day today, wish I had a camera. Chilly at the start but I felt a lot better than I did last Tuesday and there was no sniveling. About 45 miles with a stop for coffee and a bagel.

Does sound great; a tad cooler here at about 20F but quite manageable - much fewer miles though but invigorating!

Meet our Rassilon:
A lovely male (well, not so much) - we like to think that he wouldn’t eat us but who knows! 😉

Rassilon, 11 years old. A little bewildered in a hotel room in New Mexico.

Got into the mid 60s here.

My cat is named Cavendish because he's a Manx, (no tail). He's lost a lot of weight since the pic. Not sure of his age but at least 14.

I was chilly at the start of my ride too. We peaked out at 46.6° at 1:15pm, but some of the canyons I rode in seemed like they were staying down around 35°

Wow, I have nothing like this anywhere near I live… or may be I haven’t tried to find it.
[There was a small group of bicyclists (about 6)that used to meet at a bike shop, I used to use from time to time. Around 5 pm the group used to come back to the shop with their bikes covered in mud… I was asked to join but I didn’t have afternoons free.]

We didn't have any snow on the ground but we descended a very narrow canyon which was entirely in the shade and it was cold in there.
