Addiction 2023.4

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I told him I did not really agree with this, but he should listen to his doctor and not his friend.

Interesting. My cardiologist has me on 5mg twice a day of Eliquis and is happy that I'm riding. Maybe just a different scenario. Even with some afib he says the Eliquis can handle it. Also, almost no difference in clotting from before.

have friend that is an active bike rider and skier that has been on Coumadin for around 30 years

he no longer road rides - but rides off road probably 3-4 times per week (all year round)

He’s had some set backs - including DVT in a leg and pulmonary embolism in his lung

met him years ago in a parking lot when I was just getting into off road biking - and he turned me on to road bike riding and soon after I purchased my first road bike … also later joined his group to do weekly off road rides (including night rides) … also would see him at basketball games (his kid was an awesome 3-point shooter) … easily one of the nicest people I’ve met

I follow his blog - often an interesting read … mention of his Coumadin use and setbacks mentioned here:

https://chroniclesofmccloskey.com/20...lets-to-aging/

.

Headed out to grab a latte myself, then gonna walk it over to target to grab a couple of mundane items. Unfortunately we only got about an inch of snow, still cheerier than a snowless walk but could be better.
