Addiction 2023.4

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pronunciation tip for east coasters: Moscow rhymes with Idaho.

Cool. Different. I stumbled across this Tool cover yesterday. It's old but it's pretty good.

Sounds like a woodwind trio with some interlopers.

Here, I listen to YouTube, and I am not one to check out stuff I don’t know. This conversation got me thinking. I lived in Sacramento through the 70s and listened to KZAP radio. I left there for the last time in the summer of 81.Dire Straits and The Police had recently made the scene. Once I left California I never again listened to the radio with the thought of finding new music. So anything that came along after 1981 would have come from other people turning me on to it.
Edit: That’s not really true about not watching tv. I have watched a series or two, but…. are you sitting down? …..even cable feels like new tech to me, having never had it. Netflix and the like don’t feel like tv either but I guess that’s what folks call tv these days. So I fell out of the loop in 1981, musically anyway, and out of most everything else in 2001.
unfortunate if you fell out of the loop in the early 80’s and missed 90’s rock

lotz and lotz of great stuff

I rarely go to bike stores but one time this year a friend was having multiple flats because his rim tape had stopped covering the spoke holes. The shop put new rim tape on while we waited.

Pretty exciting stuff, no?
what type of rim tape ?

I still use velox - but appears that stuff is now old school (?)

also RE: eggs, I thought that they didn't need to get refrigerated straight outta the hen, since they have some sort of protective film. The film gets rinsed off in the cartons that make it to the store. Or something like that, I think that's what I've been told,

Lilly up a bit early this morning (2a Pacific), she usually goes to between 4 and 6. Hopefully she can make it all the way to her 7 / 7:30 "good morning" feed after this, but we'll see. She did have an extremely wet diaper so maybe that's why she woke up and started fussin'

All the eggs we buy are not refrigerated. Most of the produce too.

I believe that’s true. In the USA commercial eggs must be washed and that removes the protective layer and that’s why they must be refrigerated. In other countries they are kept at room temperature so you see them at the grocery store on regular shelves.

Milestone reached. Bathroom activity resumed this morning without need for laxatives.
Dropping a deuce is what has become good news in my life. Sad.

Pics withheld by request. No film at 11.
