I have a CAAD 12 w/105. I swapped out the Aksium clinchers for Mavice Ksyrium Elite USTs. I've done nothing else and my bike is sub 18 lbs. I think 17 lb 14 oz to be exact. I have 5 road bikes with a GURU Photon being the lightest at 16 lbs as ridden. My heaviest is a Canyon Aeroad w/11 sp Ultegra mechanical and disc brakes. It weighs 18 lb as ridden..When I reach for a bike it's always the Canyon. It just feels right, goes, stops and handles as I like it. So, for me, weight is not a big thing.

There's really nothing exotic on this, I just haven't had anything ever that weighed in the 16s.

I think my caad9 race bike I put together in college was probably in the 18s with DA7800 and the SRM I got from wheeling and dealing and summer jobs.

Weight isn't the end all be it for me but I'm probably going to be on this bike for a little bit.... At least another year and a half or so. I got it used and I'm pretty happy with it.

The mechanical disc build for the Genesis isn't going to be a weenie build. The fork by itself weighs 790 grams. I'm keeping an eye out for a lighter disc fork for it that keeps the geometry consistent because that's pretty absurd. Realistically, I'd love for it to end up in the 19s but even that is going to be tough unless I can find a better fork for it.

Just bought some slightly lighter carbon wheels that arent as deep. Will end up selling the prime wheels. I think when I'm done, the caad13 should be in the low 16s if not a bit lighter.

I ended up splurging and getting a used disc road bike and have deep wheels for that so the caad13 will be the lighter bike. Which is kind of funny because the disc bike is pretty dang light as well 😬

It'll be nice to have the caad to ride when it's windier out as well.

The weight benefit of TPU is a bit overstated. I bought my first Tpu tubes, lastly because they store easily in a seatbag.

out of curiosity, I weighed the tpu tube and lightweight butyl tube, both for 23-28 mm tires, with 80 mm valve stems.

TPu= 37 grams. butyl 81 grams. So 44 grams per tube or 88 grams for 2.

Thats 1.5 ounces a tube.
