First Group ride this year. Glorious ride, great weekend!

A bit scattered (blaming the endorphin high), but wanted to share the great weekend.

O.K, so I did my first group ride this year saturday morning. Frantic drive there but made it just in time. Never ridden with the group but people are really friendly (Quad Cycles in Arlington) . Decided to ride at the back because I am a bit unsure about my group riding skills, however, did fine and found myself drafting and pulling) . Ended up bridging to the medium group (hit 29 mph solo on a flat catching up ). When we got to the half way point, decided to ride back with the fast group (something about what doesn't kill you....). Kept up with the fast group (though I cheated since I really didn't pull). They seemed okay with it. Got dropped at one point when they were doing 26+ MPH and hit an incline and I lost the wheel in front of me (I cracked, I was pedaling but felt like I was standing still ). Caught up at the next set of lights where they waited for the 2 people dropped. From there it was the bike path at a slower pace. Ended up riding 38 miles in total.

Really psyched because I was almost at the point of quitting cycling because my knees had really been killing me. I had my bike position professionally fitted but did not help. Switched to compact cranks with shorter crank-arms (172.5 instead of 175) helped but I think the exercises in the book "Treat Your Own Knees" helped. Knee pain pretty much gone.

Also, when I went ro recalibrate my flight deck found out that it had been mis-calibrated when I bought the bike (I was wondering why I couldn't seem to break an average mph of 16. Turns out I am at about 17mph-18mph). Also, today, on a flat decided to push it and maintained 30+ mph for a distance (I seem to have power but suck at endurance and hills).

Definitely want to ride with this group again. If anyone from the Quad Cycles group is reading, you guys rock!
