Addiction 2024.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'll bring it all and make a game hour call. Agree on the amount to carry. A couple arm warmers are nothing.

It's usually a lot cooler than it will be for the whole rest of the ride. Once or twice I made the mistake of dressing with that 3 miles in mind and ended up overdressing. Last time I ALMOST did that I thought, "I'll just throw on a vest instead", and that was the ticket.

Spur of the moment after lunch. Short one around the hood.

Doing a Trek ride in the morning. Just the short version. There is a faster 45 and metric group if you want to join the fun.

A lady I know stuffs a plastic bag under her jersey then tosses it when the temp goes up.

The vest I bought recently packs so small I hardly notice it in my pocket.

Thin vest is most versatile clothing item and perfect for cool starts and/or surprise rain.

Just mask until fever gone x 24 hours. It’s really up to you, the virus is everywhere and luckily usually causes minor illness. It is very contagious, typically 2-3 days from exposure to symptoms. You both should be mostly better in time for your trip .

If you don’t test there is no quarantine time.

On each of my rides ito the south I’ve been seeing evidence of small fires. Some of them, near remote properties, I figured were intentional. Now I realize probably none of them were intentional. I stopped riding that direction specifically because of all the fire activity. And now ride in a more wooded, more civilized area to the north of town. These fires, in Belize anyway, are burning cleared, or recently planted land. Full on forests aren’t burning; it moves fast across the tinder dry leaf litter and grasses down low. That big green area in southern Yucatán is the Calakmul rainforest.
Weird Wild Stuff
In theory rain is predicted in the coming week. There were reports of rain in southern Belize this morning
