Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

He is going to call tomorrow afternoon but once it is changed, it probably will take 12 hours to kick in so I might not know how it goes until tomorrow morning. I did not take my pain pill yesterday so I should be feeling worse than normal so it is an improvement but hard to quantify. It's a process.

sounds like a great idea all the way around. I echo the Cleveland - Detroit option that LOP suggested. Cincy on I70 & I71 then I71 up to Cleveland could work depending on schedules. 2 games near the Ohio river could be interesting with Lake Erie as a juicy bonus.

Does the bike fit easily into the new car?

UPDATE: He and his SO have terminated search efforts and he has taped another coin to the track. I've run out of coffee and it's getting a little hot to be railfanning in the sun, so I'm gonna go do something in the woods.

external on a trial basis. If significant pain reduction is achieved, then it's buried internally. Like a pacemaker below the skin except in upper butt or above waistline

Wild wacky stuff.

A few days more than a month ago I lost an old friend to a heart attack. The man who reported that incident to me suffered his own a month later almost to the day.. A mild one, and he had an open heart procedure yesterday, I believe.

After 24 hours of travel we have reached our destination.

This is the Union Island international Airport, passenger count maybe 6 people day:

Our view :

Rum tasting at 7:00. Dinner follows.

It should fit fine with rear seats down and front wheel removed. We won’t get the car for another 2 weeks.

Had a fun day on the bike. 63 miles in cool, cloudy weather. Started out with about 18 riders but 6 split off at mile 12 to go on a century route. I felt pretty good and finished strong but when I got home some pain started in the outer tendon area of my right knee. Like nasty pain. Put some ice and a Salon pas. Hard to get comfortable. Want to ride tomorrow.

Seems like a great place to celebrate the start of hurricane season. Can you place bets there?

Earlier a young hawk (hawkette?) landed on the fence about 20 feet from the window I was looking out. Sadly I did not have a camera nearby. #BackYardBirding

Are you OK? Waking up in the middle of the night seems to be taking its toll.

My front brake on my emonda makes this horrible screeching noise when I try and brake. It also feels like there is very little braking action. I assumed the pads were done, so I pulled them out with the intent to replace but they actually have a lot of life left. I wiped them down real good with a clean microfiber cloth. Plan was to hit them with some sand paper but I couldn’t find any.
Next I hit the rotor with some brake cleaner. I put it all back together and the braking action is a touch better but that screeching noise is still there.

Thoughts?

Rode the Black Fly Challenge up in the Adirondacks yesterday. Was an amazingly awesome time. It rained pretty much from start to finish and my glasses were so mud covered that I had to take them off for probably half of the race.

Witnessed one nasty crash, looked like it was caused by a guy who almost put me in the road about 10 minutes earlier. All involved ended up being transported via ambulance but no idea how bad.

Didn’t manage my effort well in the climbs- I hit the last 5-10 miles and had way too much gas in the tank. I don’t know if it was adrenaline or something else but I ended up pulling a line of guys at about 25mph for 20–30 minutes. Every time I got off the front we slowed down, so I just stayed up there. I think I probably could have finished 5 - 8 minutes faster had I pushed harder in the middle. Still, pretty satisfied. Finished 10th in the fat and 40 category.
