Addiction 2024.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Clearly. You do your best and hope for the best.

BTW, doc, Xtandi is freaking awesome. I had an undetectable PSA today for the first time in probably 15 years and I have almost zero side effects.

Happy to hear that’s working for you. Lupron is working well for me, in fact I scored a 0.6 in yesterday’s results.

It’s a good option for many. Just don’t look at the price.

Lupron had lost its effectiveness though I still get shots and my testosterone is less than 10. My tumors became Lupron resistant around the third year. Xtandi uses a different approach to thwarting the cancer cells from growing.

I got my monthly refill today. $14,682.00 actual cost to insurance. Luckily I have great insurance and at that price, one hits the deductible fast. I had no copay today.

Not often enough. It's pretty out of tune right now. Sorta matters on a piece like this too. It's a Hallet and Davis Co 48" upright. Its needed tuning almost yearly since I purchased it 5 or so years back. You get what you pay for (it was $3,500 new). Some day we'll get a nicer one - maybe a Kawai. There are a few of those in my extended family, and I had a Kawai baby grand growing up. Nice pianos.

We have a mediocre upright piano my parents bought in the early 1960’s. It was last tuned a few years ago. Once daughter #1 has a long term place I hope she will take it as she plays quite well, while neither mrs datlas nor i play.

With creative use of zip ties I installed front and rear shorty fenders designed for non sprung mtb with rim brakes. It’s what I can get locally. $5 for the pair.
So tomorrow morning I can go balls to the walls through all that standing water and adjacent mud

Whew, I was freaking out that this was my slowest possible ride today because Strava was slow to compute my segment results. "What, not even a lowly bronze medal? That's impossible, I felt pretty good out there"

I showed a Canadien looking at a paper map how to get back to his car, we rode together 'til his turnoff and I kept dropping him like a bad habit. I had to have some good times!!!

Luckily the prizes finally dropped:

No riding off road tomorrow. We are getting a good old fashioned downpour. And our friend ten miles north hasn’t gotten a drop

Ally Sheedy's birthday! So here she is shredding the gnar with Rob Lowe. Empty baskets though - shame.

I used to have a big crush on her.

If you’re looking for a good, quick read, check out “Brat” by Andrew McCarthy. One thing he talks about is that the Brat Pack never really existed. It was a media creation.

I drank the contents of the bottle that contained the Painkiller drink. Sort of like vacation electrolytes except it’s a mix of rum and other liquids.
