LOL, my mate back home looked at this about 10 years ago, decided it was too much hassle.
Anyways, look out for the Automatic bonnet with the nice bulge, loads of 205 GTI's's were running these back in the day. Another cool trick is to get a 309GTI front faring, cut it in half down the middle and take out a small section. It will bolt straight on underneath the OEM 205 GTI front bumper giving you a nice low front end with twin foglights.

Oh, and if you're looking for wheels, did anyone run anything but Fondmetals? check out the 5900 classic with the deep dish!

FWIW, I had a renault 5 gt turbo, blew it up twice....great fun.
1.4l 4cyl Turbo, what do you aussies make of that?

jock 04-18-06 03:31 AM

sorry berny, had to dash off for my sponge bath.

bruce might be oldish and might have lost his sprint, but he can outlast just about anyone. if you try to drop him he will just catch back up and then return the favour.

background: triathlons. body composition: 9 inch nails and iron filings. fav brekky: sailors :D

if you're gonna talk stoopid then:

900cc suzuki swift turbo: mad.
1.1litre suzuki swift turbo: insane.
7 litre chrysler + 1/2 bottle bourbon: criminally insane fun.

serious? thought you'd do track? I'm struggling after the flu. $#!+ didn't that mess with the fittness. :( entered the TT and RR just to make up the numbers. not gunna to do any damage to Keith Oliver and co.:o

another Oz engine; P76 4.2l alloy V8. poor copy of the Rover 3.8. could have been so good too with some gussets to support the crank. can be made to go hard though. had one in my Range Rover for a while. nicely modded it went well. Talking about crap pommie electrics, Rangie seriously tested my patience.

Bzzzz.

I've got one of these in my shed, next to a Rover 3.5l, it's the same engine, the block heights are very slightly higher to accomodate the longer stroke.

But after all, they are both just a Buick design that Rover bought about a squillion years ago.

The most interesting development of this engine is the Repco-Brabham F1 engine that won the world championship in the sixties.

And you can't fit one of these on a road bike, atleast not one with 700C wheels.

Odin 04-18-06 05:54 AM

The P76 V8's go well into Triumph Stags. Best thing you could do to a Stag... pig of an engine.

Do Stags still exist? I thought they'd all rusted away - can't remember the last time I saw one.

Odin 04-18-06 06:04 AM

Yeah, they're still about, getting a little scarce though. Just the die-hard nutters driving them now. Used to have some customers with concourse winning Stags that were really nice. Those engines were sooo bad but they were also one of the best sounding V8's ever built.

Move to Utah, you'll fit right in. No helmet laws, and you can talk on your mobile while driving. Scary stuff.

Didn't the Stag or the Dolomite get voted 'worlds worst car' one year?

Talking Triumphs, the Triumph Herald was *the* worst car ever built. I mean ever in the history of the world, except maybe for the Goggo Mobile which wasn't really a car but a rather a flash, self propelled wheel barrow you could sit in.:D

62vette 04-18-06 05:49 PM

The Triumph Herald was definitely ****. There's still a few on the roads here, mostly having been chopped down to convertibles. They have an incredible lock on them though, you can just about turn them in their own length providing you don't break the front suspension in the process.

There's a dude here runs a V8 Triumph TR7 quite successfully in Targa rallying, and there's also a nutter that has wedged a V8 into a Herald

Well I don't know about a bowl of it but a few teaspoonfuls of it does wonders. Honestly do it once and you will be sold and you will wonder why you made such a fuss about it.

Regards, Anthony

I'm thinking of going vege but I have no idea where to start. Any advice/reading you can throw my way?

climbo 04-18-06 10:50 PM

I'm vego every Sunday at 3pm, on the couch watching the footy. :)

HDTVKSS 04-18-06 10:53 PM

just make sure you dont become a salad vego where all you eat is salad! youl drop weight like crazy but not be getting anywhere near enough carbs / protien.

biggest thing for me has been making the protien adjustment. where if you eat meat protien seems to be in over abundance, things get shakey on the vego side. Ok i also have to clarify that im not into Soy, have read a few too many bad things about its past that scares me.

as for cycling and vego related books, Chris Carmichaels food for fitness i thought was quite a good resource, if you can stomach the constant plugs for power bars! overall though i though it was a good read as one of his main trainers is vego and has obviously had some input. as for general vego tips, try a google search , must be lots out there.
