Dude, I've got 2 different sites in various states of development, and I'm shooting for a wholesale on ebay thing too. But it's past my bedtime. Take care of Jock. He's old and brittle, but wise. Jock= the Yoda of cycling.

I have been sitting and pondering some deep philosophical questions this afternoon. Questions like .... "what is the point of The Aussie Thread?" .
After cogitating for some nanoseconds, I came to the conclusion that this thread is pointless. Unfortunately, it is also strangely addictive (in an existentialist kind of way). I think it's time we all started calling ourselves Bruce. cheers, Bruce "There's nothing Nietzche couldn't teach ya 'Bout the raising of the wrist. Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed." |

From where to where? How far up? I like them kinda chaglenges :) |
Mountain Hwy from The Basin to Sassafras. There's a few 90+kg guys in EVCC that go up it in the 16's
It's just under 7km. |
Yep Odin is correct, that's the one. I think most people start timing at the 60km sign just after the shops at the bottom and stop timing at the 60km? sign at the top (about 150m before the T intersection). Very popular local climb for the eastern/southern side of town riders (see cycle2max.com)
Have you had a timed crack at it Odin? |

... I've used Michelin Pro-Races in the past but they seemed a bit fragile and I got sick of flats. I've been using Schwalbe Stelvio's since last year and apart from barely any flats (that's gone and done it) they're lasting really well - 3000km's and still looking good. I use 'em for commuting, training, racing, getting the milk etc etc. Probably not much bling factor but hell, I want to ride on 'em, not look at 'em. |

I reckon Michelin Pro Races are a little overrated and definitely overpriced. I don't think they're any better than other slicks I've used, such as the Stelvio Light, Vittorias EVO KS (the best), Specialised Mondo and Vredestein Super Lights. |

Anyways, just did a search of the archives to find the genesis of the thread and no Part 3 came up in the results. Does this mean there was no part 3 or did it have a different name? |

I guess we don't have to because the page numbers aren't intrusive like in some boards (with long threads the page numbers take up most of the space) Or do we move to a new thread when the sun and the moon line up in some mysterious way? |

Agree that there are plenty of other good climbs up that way. Went across from Lilydale-Monbulk-Emerald etc last Monday. Hadn't ridden up that way before but enjoyed it. |
I started this thread as an island oasis in a sea of Seppo dribble. :D And yes, this is part 4 of 4 of the most prolific and popular thread evarrrrrrr!!!!!! (go us!). Matagi, if you think this thread is pointless, you should take a look at the rest of the forum! I mean, I've been surfing internet BBS' for like 8 years and it's just getting worse. "Campy vs Shimano"...."what bike should I buy"...."I'm sore, what should I do"...."Look at my crap bike!"...."I just started riding. How do you pedal?"....
The only redeeming feature is that this forum isn't as cliquey as the others. MTBR is horribly cliquey to the point that people won't even listen to you unless you've been there for 2 years, post 10 times a day and agree with everything the ringleaders say. I mean....look.....we even listen to Expat! The farkin barrrstid won't let us swear, but we don't even hold that against him! :) |
