And what took you so long? Notice this is Part 4? These boys have been going on about nothing long enough to make Seinfeld blush. I was proud to be one of them, but since I left Oz, it hasn't been the same.

I've been using Schwalbe Stelvio's since last year and apart from barely any .

I haven't used the GP4000. They are 'uber' expensive in the shops I've seen them in.

I reckon Michelin Pro Races are a little overrated and definitely overpriced. I don't think they're any better than other slicks I've used, such as the Stelvio Light, Vittorias EVO KS (the best), Specialised Mondo and Vredestein Super Lights.

Shouldn't your name now be exexpatriate?

Hey, I've only been on BF for a month and to be honest, when I first looked at this thread I thought it was a load of rubbish. It draws you in eventually, though.

Anyways, just did a search of the archives to find the genesis of the thread and no Part 3 came up in the results. Does this mean there was no part 3 or did it have a different name?

I havent loked at previous incarnations of the Aussie Thread, but one question has been bugging me lately when do we move to part 5?
I guess we don't have to because the page numbers aren't intrusive like in some boards (with long threads the page numbers take up most of the space)
Or do we move to a new thread when the sun and the moon line up in some mysterious way?

Actually the Monkey is an Aussie (sandgroper?) that has moved to the UK I think....so it's not an invasion from the "Muvva Country"

It took me 20:30 but that was before I started racing and I know I'm a fair bit stronger now - I've dropped over a minute orf other climbs since racing. I'll have another crack at it soon.

Your time's about the best I have managed so far - need to do more than one ride a week to improve I think:(

Agree that there are plenty of other good climbs up that way. Went across from Lilydale-Monbulk-Emerald etc last Monday. Hadn't ridden up that way before but enjoyed it.

Thylacine 04-20-06 06:30 PM

I started this thread as an island oasis in a sea of Seppo dribble. :D And yes, this is part 4 of 4 of the most prolific and popular thread evarrrrrrr!!!!!! (go us!). Matagi, if you think this thread is pointless, you should take a look at the rest of the forum! I mean, I've been surfing internet BBS' for like 8 years and it's just getting worse. "Campy vs Shimano"...."what bike should I buy"...."I'm sore, what should I do"...."Look at my crap bike!"...."I just started riding. How do you pedal?"....

The only redeeming feature is that this forum isn't as cliquey as the others. MTBR is horribly cliquey to the point that people won't even listen to you unless you've been there for 2 years, post 10 times a day and agree with everything the ringleaders say.

I mean....look.....we even listen to Expat! The farkin barrrstid won't let us swear, but we don't even hold that against him! :)

Browny gets one spot closer in Stage 2....

1 Alessandro Petacchi (Ita) Team Milram 4.11.26
2 Graeme Brown (Aus) Rabobank
3 Peter Wrolich (Aut) Gerolsteiner

Um, it is rubbish. But look what happens when the Council has on of those rubbish collection days - people flock to dig through your discards. Honestly, I think the previous parts get archived (which may be a euphimism for tossed in the bin) since even I don't recall where they are.

There is so much love in this thread...

Thylacine 04-20-06 07:21 PM

Listen, as TAT is simply a microcosm and therefore indicative of society, any speak against TAT is actually dismissive society as a whole, and frankly akin to Sedition which as we know is a very, very serious crime for which you will be sent to Guantanamo Bay. Now, we all know what happens when that happens - you get reamed by Seppos which means you have to become a Pom - ergo, TAT thread serves a very valuable service, and is NOT, therefore, "rubbish".

I rest my case.

Dude, whose gov't paid $400k to charter a plane to bring a terrorist back to Oz, but did nothing for Corby? Yeah, I'm not proud of my government either, but credit to you for correct spelling.

I thought the same when I first came on - but now I love it; the Aussie dribble beats any dribble coming out of the Seppos.....

"Which head do I put my helmet on?", "Which end of the bike do I point forwards downhill?"

Hey, I'm the first to admit our gov'ment is utter shiet. We lock people fleeing their countries for their lives in concentration camps, invent fictitious 'childern overboard' propaganda to demonise them, the AWA farce....I could go on. Hard to expect anything else when we look up to Big Brother and the spectre of 'Popularism' for constant approval.

As for Corby, all that shows is that 1) One chick with nice boobies doesn't out-trump international relations with Indonesia, and 2) Queenslanders are quite possibly the dumbest bogans on the planet!

matagi 04-20-06 08:34 PM

I's nice to see you guys occasionally think about the possibility of getting all excited about something. :p

Now, as I said several posts ago, I originally THOUGHT (past tense) the thread was a load of rubbish - given that I actually now post the odd product of my deranged thought processes here, I clearly no longer hold this view. This is a strangely beguiling, oddly addictive thread.

Yes Thylacine, I agree we need an oasis of Antipodean anarchy in a sea of Seppo BS - I especially enjoy the discussions on topics completely unrelated to cycling (like the car thing a several pages back, how long did that run for?) and then eventually someone posts something about cycling which gets the thread back on track for a few posts before it veers off onto a tangent again.

It would be interesting to see if some of you are as err ... eccentric ... in person as you seem on this thread ;)
