in other news, i propose a new charity is set up. " save a bus driver " , yes, just for a dollar a day, you can help a bus driver learn what in indicator is and why he should use both it and a mirror before cutting across an 80 kph road when hes doing 20 kays an hour.... |
It's a toss-up what the Song Of The Day is going to be today. I was thinking something by Slayer, but how can you go past Iron Maidens 'The Number of the Beast'?
No idea what that Ti frame is. I wouldn't ride it though, looks scary - esp the forks. I'm temped to just to post dribble for the next 4 posts just so I can have post #6666 |

I'd like to teach a few things to the ignorant school bus driver that thought overtaking a cyclist in a roundabout this morning was a good idea - not :( His passengers were slightly bemused by the rabid man in red pounding on the side of the bus and gesticulating at the side mirror with a middle finger.
First real frost here this morning, 2C overnight and fully kitted out with beanie, booties and woolly gloves. Needless to say the nose was running like a tap for the whole ride - snot-rocket-arama. |
am i evil?

Are you vomitting jets of green vomit?

Only time it's ever cancelled is when visibility falls below 100m or the wind is too strong (ie. the safety signs get blown over!). Most wussy riders usually pike it before conditions get that bad.
So you stepping up to B Grade this week HDT to do a lazy 75kays |

So you stepping up to B Grade this week HDT to do a lazy 75kays bah, b grade, if i was doing that id still be out there the next week waiting to finish my 3rd lap! plan to race D grade and play it very aggressive, differing from last time when i folowed wheels and waited till the final time up blood to make a bit of a move. i tend to race very agressive in a MTB race and just rolling around in the paceline was a tad mind numbing, esp at the pace we were doing. actually , if by the end of next year i was a competitive B grade rider id be stoked. definatley making road my focus from now on, just need to make it exciting for myself! |
Racing in the rain is the same as racing dry, except you get wet! Logical , eh? :p
Your booties will keep all the moisture out for a total distance of about 30m. After that they keep you feet warm and wet, so your skin goes white and swells up massive inside your shoes. You get used to the squelching in your shoes after a while/your feet go to sleep. You have no brakes. Neither does anyone else. Carry on. You will be able to identifiy various parts of the course by taste. Your glasses will fog up plenty and get covered in **** all the time. You will run out of rinsing water at about half distance. After that you'll be forced to try to wipe them clean. This will only scratch the lenses and smear grease all over them, making them useless. As soon as you take them off in order to see the rider ahead will flick a tiny bit of road grit into you eye. A bunch sprint is not a desirable thing. When you get back to your car you will discover that one of your windows was slightly ajar and all your warm clothes and the seats are now cold and wet. Oh yeah, and you will need to clean your bike when you get home. Level 3 water restrictions are in place: don;t waste water :roflmao: |
sounds great, where do i sign up~ !
1st MTB race ever was in torrential summer rain. i wear glasses, so of course they fogged. bad enough that i had sweet FA idea where i was or even if i was on the race course any more. oh, and id just had the LBS tdo a rebuild on my bike the week before including new chain, casette, cables and wheel bearings. all of which were not worth a pinch of poo by the end of the race. |
Jock, how long have you been president of the optimists club?
