Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Great Quote

"Don't buy upgrades; ride up grades." - Eddy Merckx

I stole this from a signature in another forum, so I can't confirm it's source, but it's a great quote nonetheless.

I don't know if Eddy said it, but if he did it would be a pretty good one coming from a guy who didn't speak English as his first language.

Here's another gem:

"I'm gonna show you a hill that would choke a mule."

-- President G.W. Bush on his MTB moments before losing his front-wheel traction and flying over his bars down a steep dropoff.

I always loved this Lemond quote;

"it never gets any easier, you just go faster"

Personally I like the quote in my sig. Not sure if anyone's said it before me - but till I see proof - I'm claiming it for myself.

I like the phrase in my sig also...

It really defines us as cyclists and racers...

We seem to be made to suffer. It's our lot in life... - C3PO - Star Wars : A new Hope

Lemond had another quote that I've often thought of while out on long rides. Somebody (suppossedly) asked Greg what he thought about on long rides and he replied "Dairy Queen. God, I dream of Dairy Queen".
