Crap installation guide: Trek Incite 11i computer
Adding to a crap weekend where I didn't get to ride because of work (and now there's a major storm raging), I'm trying to install the Trek Incite 11i computer. The directions on this thing really stink.
For example, what is the inset picture in frame 2 trying to tell me?
I think I've figured most of the install out though. What I really need to know is where the cadence sensor should go. Is it on the downtube or the right chainstay? And pretty obvious question but again, the instructions suck - the magnet goes on the crank, right?

the incite 11i is so freakin annoying to install. the way I have been doing it for customers is to route it down the front derailleur cable sticking out of the shifter, then zip tie it to the downtube. then run it under the bb, and take slack out of wire by wrapping it around the chainstay. the short lead is the cadence, the long is the speed. IMO, the wintech ccomputer is well worth the 50 bucks in decreased frustration and setup. wireless is the way to go.

Had it not been for your post, I wouldn't have figured it out. I went to Home Depot to get more zip ties and then routed both speed and cadence wires under the downtube as you said. The instructions make it look like you have to route the speed wire to the fork which I now realize applies to the Incite models without cadence.
If I didn't like the large display so much, I really would have given up on it. Next time I'm going wireless.
Thanks for your help.

I just bought one of the Incite11 computers on Saturday at the local Trek store. One of the employees came by to ask if I had any questions about the computers and I said, "Sure. If I buy this, will you install it?" She said no problem. So they take my bike and say it'll be a few minutes. About 40 minutes and two mechanics later (I was watching on and off as I wandered around the store....they didn't look like they were enjoying it), I had the bike back.
So I got home and looked at the instruction booklet and congratulated myself several times on the decision to have them install it. NO WAY I could've done it. Heck, I could barely figure out the instructions on how to set the clock on it!

As to you cadence sensor; I would mount it on the NON-DRIVE side (left) of the bike, and it would mount on the chainstay with the magnet on the left crank arm.
