Anyone know what size and type of spokes would work well with Ambrosio Thesis tubular rims and Campy Record hubs? The hubs are regular, classic flange, not high flange hubs for track. I'd favor durability over aerodynamic. I'm looking to build a pair of wheels for training on the cheap.

If you don't know about Thesis rims but do know about F20 Cronos, I'd like to know too.

Hola Gregorio,

I've got a set of both Thesis and F20's built on AC hubs. I used Sapim X rays, but any decent spoke would be fine in this application. DT, Wheelsmith, you really don't need anything too fancy if you're going 32 or 36 spoke.

The Thesis is a better "all around" rim. Very nice machined braking surfaces, they stay true and have a nice ride. If you are getting them from Ital-Techno be aware that they had the rim height incorrectly marked (they are around 28mm).

The Cronos are 100 or so grams lighter but are a very stiff alloy box section that transmits a bit more road vibration and are prone to high spots and going out of true on a regular basis. They are coated so the brake feel and surface isn't superb. I use them for climbing. At 1340 grams for the set they are really light, and with tires they were 1/4 pound better than my AC Sprint 350 clinchers.

If you have any questions PM me.
