Clear chamois cream

I recently got some new bib shorts that I love, but they are so “breathable” that my go-to chamois cream, chamois butt’r, bleeds right through the pants. Does anybody have personal knowledge of any chamois cream that is clear? And no, I’m not using too much. I’ve scoured the web and none of results about chamois cream mention the color.

You say you're not using too much, yet you're probably the only person in the world with this problem and using less would probably solve it.

I have had this problem with assos chamny cream with some bibs. I just rub it in to the fabric if a bit of excess leaks through the shorts, tends to happen around the front groinal area which is where I apply it the most generously to avoid chafage. Never had it get past the actual pad to escape the other side.

I use Chamois/Bike Glide from Body Glide and it works well without leaving a mess. It goes on like a deodorant and isn't messy at all and works really really well.

Another vote for Body Glide. I still use the original, since that's all they made when I started using it. I get about 1500 miles out of a stick.

I make my own from this recipe. It's slightly yellow in the jar, but it's clear once it warms up:Coach Levi’s Mint Deluxe Chamois Cream Recipe

  • 4 oz shea butter
  • 2 oz coconut oil
  • 2 oz lanolin
  • 1/8 oz tea tree oil
  • 1/16 oz menthol
  • 1/16 oz peppermint oil

1. Melt the shea butter and coconut oil together in a pot on the stove (or in if you have one).

2. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.

3. Stir in lanolin.

4. Place in freezer for 20 minutes (or until partially solidified).

5. Add essential oils and mix for 10 minutes.

6. Place in freezer 10 more minutes.

7. Whip until a butter-like consistency is achieved.

8. Once ready, place in a small jar for storage.

9. Test it out.
